    Hello there

I have struggled getting a PERMANENT solution for this, as many of us know the issue of having it accessible is a big problem, many of us have felt that if internet porn was not available that there wouldnt be a problem and we wouldnt even be here.

I am trying to reach out to those intelligent computer geeks to help with this issue as it will be a great 1st step to gaining control and then apply all of this other things that the process (proven to work) offers but will need external help for the first period of the journey I could even say that at some point the last step of the journey will be being convinced (deeply) that even having it accesible at your palm ,that you dont crave ,want and even repulse the curiosity of picking at porn because of a bigger understanding and mindpower given by recovery.

Guys input welcome ,links and if its free or cost money please elaborate and answer this for many of us that are not very techy lol.

You need two solutions--one for your desktop and/or laptop computer(s), and one for your phone.

For people who use iPhones or iPads, the solution is very, very simple. iOS has very strong filtering functionality built right into the software. The best way to activate it is to have a trusted friend (who you see somewhat regularly) set the passcode so you can't just go back in and change it yourself. I produced a video that details exactly how to adjust the settings. Anyone who wants the link can write me directly.

For desktops and laptops, I'm a huge advocate of Covenant Eyes filtering AND accountability software. It's about $15 a month. Not only does it filter out X-rated content, but it provides a few accountability partners (of your choosing) with a summary of your browsing habits. I've had it flag sites that weren't pornographic, but were definitely full of sexualized material, and that's kept me pretty safe. I have control over that filter, but here's the kicker--if I remove it, my accountability partners get an immediate e-mail telling them I've uninstalled, and I'd better have a damn good reason when I talk to them.

Basically, you need to involve other people in your process. Any filters that you're in charge of are likely to be removed when the urges hit.

The best solution for blocking porn on all devices is your honest decision not to watch it.
Believe me I used it and it helps;)

That's all good and well, but you have to remember many of us in these forums are addicts. Telling a porn addict to "just decide to stop watching it" is no different than telling an alcoholic "just decide to stop drinking." If it were that easy, we wouldn't be addicted.

I get it. Of course it s not that easy.
But in my opinion installing a porn blocker on your Pc, tablet, phone etc is only a short-term decision that can t really stop you from watching porn.
If you re strong in your decision to quit porn, you don t need any porn blocker, you ll be able to prevent relapse by yourself. If you are not, it won t really help, you ll just uninstall it, or will try to fing another way to get access to porn.

I totally agree with you here. Blockers and filters are only a stop-gap. But I also think they are very important and useful stop-gaps, especially in early recovery. Again, to draw a parallel to alcoholism: ideally, the alcoholic wants to get to a place where he can be in a room with alcohol and not drink it. But at least in the beginning, it's probably best to get rid of it all.

I also agree with you here, but only in one sense: a porn filter that's controlled by the addict is essentially worthless. My iPad and iPhone have restrictions codes that were set by an accountability partner. I can't change my settings unless he punches in the code, and then he's there to see how I'm changing the settings, and is free to ask me why. It's been a huge asset in my recovery, and it's why my relapses have only been due to MO, and not PMO.

  14. I recommend blocking your Google, browser, and any other triggering apps for 90 days. Just block all your roads for 90 days and see how you feel after that.

I’m starting a new streak and wondering if I should filter or not. On the one hand I’ve done this before went about 7 months of not watching or even masterbating and I don’t remember noticing much benifits. I restricted my internet so much and didn’t really feel a pay off for it relapsed at 7 months and it was a terrible relapse. It’s difficult maybe I should try again and set new goals last time I tried going a month or 90 days no youtube I remember failing. Learning to not watch without a filter also strengthens willpower I think. I’m going to try. I even got a counter.

The permanent solution is to practice NoFap so much that your thoughts are quashed in your mind when they appear.

To the point they don't appear anymore.

I was watching seth alexander's video on youtube and he mentioned "I can now wake up everyday in the morning and think about life, not about porn". That part really hit me and hit me like a ton of bricks because I remember having days where I couldn't help but think about porn whenever I woke up.

Slowly but surely I'm chipping that part away.

What we think, we do and what we do, we are.
