Would anybody care to share their personal experiences concerning the influence PMO on their athletic performance? I've given this some thought since I noticed a significant influence for myself.
I'm a competitive runner (Long distance, mostly 10k and Marathon) - and I've kept quite precise journals on my sexual discipline for some years now. A while ago I got the Idea of checking how my athletic performances fit into my history of phases of regular PMO and abstinece. First I listed all performances, not only by time and placing, but especially by "subjective performance", so whether I felt I had given everything or not (obviously strongly connected to "objective performance"). Then I compared those with my history of sexual discipline - and I noticed that allmost every "all-out-performanc" occured in time of abstinence, and allmost all subjectivly mediocre performances occured in times of regular PMO.
Making use of this insight, and of theories stating that your testosterone levels peak at about 7-10 days after last M (a familiar theory here, I assume), I "prepared" my last marathon accordingly, and indeed delivered my best performance by far (in the low 2:30s).
That all being said, that's just my case, and I've got far to little data (simply to few races, I focus on few competitions) even for myself so as to get to any reliable statistics. That's why - and because it's an interesting topic in general - I'm hoping we'll be able to collect some more reports and anecdotal evidence concerning the question:
How has P, M oder Sex influenced your athletic performance, preferably not just your regular workouts, but actual competitions (obviously including things like personal bests in the studio)? Have you noticed any influence? Might there be a peak after 7-10 days, or is it simply "the longer the better" (here we're only interested in the athletic perspective)? Is there a difference between P, M and sex concerning influence of athletic performance? Feel free to post any information and anecdotes - preferably from your own experience in your chosen sport.
