New policy: If you threaten frivolous legal action against NoFap, I'll ban you.

If you have a problem with one of the volunteer community moderators, you are welcome to complain, yell, do whatever. You don't have to agree with them. You don't have to agree with the forum rules. You can have your opinion on the matter and even call them names, whatever you want to do.

But fair warning:

• I generally do not get involved in user altercations.
• I generally have no detailed knowledge about what the moderators are currently doing aside from a general overhead view of what's going on. @themammothrept is far more aware of specific situations, along with @sparkywantsnoPMO, @Jen@8675309, and other members of the moderation team.
• I probably do not even want to hear about your specific fight with another user. I don't care. While the health/helpfulness of the community is very important, I've got enough to worry about in my own life.
• I've delegated forum moderation for a reason: so that I can stay away from the drama, steer clear of the trolls, so that I can focus on actually helping people and spreading the word about porn addiction around the world.
• I trust the moderators. They've all been hand selected and work very well as a team to make fair decisions. And there's a path of escalation where you can have other moderators review your situation, and ultimately the highest level which would be @themammothrept.
• If I have to get pulled into a situation on the forums, I'm generally not happy about it.
• Every time that you threaten NoFap with legal action, I immediately get pulled away from whatever more important thing I have going on, to deal with your nonsense.

If a moderator suspends you, mutes you, or instructs you to do something, and your reaction is to say that this site is supposed to be a "free speech" zone and that you're suing NoFap or any other kind of legal threat:

• This site is not a free speech zone. No idea how you ever got that idea. There's a long list of rules. There's a user agreement.
• No lawyer will take your stupid case on contingency. (although they likely will take your money, if you can pay out-of-pocket) You have zero cause for damages. The user agreement well covers NoFap from liability.
• You won't actually sue NoFap because you would lose and that would be a huge waste of your time and money.
• Suing us would be a huge waste of NoFap's time and money, which is far better spent actually helping people instead of dealing with your idiot loser ass.
• You are not entitled to use this website. This isn't public property. This isn't your property. This is private property. I can ban you for any reason. It can be as simple as me not liking you. I don't do this, but it's important to recognize that you have zero "rights" to use this site.
• I pay server resources to host you. If you threaten my ability to keep the site online with a frivolous legal threat, I will no longer feel comfortable spending my money (via server resources, my time, etc) to help you.
• After I ban you, feel free to sue. You won't. But if you really want to, you can serve the paperwork via mail to PO Box 81015, Pittsburgh PA 15217. (United States)
• I will most definitely counter-sue you, if possible, for wasting our time, money, and resources. I will publically shame you if you frivolously file a lawsuit. I'll send a photo of your stupid face to everybody on the mailing list to let them know about your shameful action.
• I know you won't actually do it. But simply threatening it is a huge waste of my time.

The ban has nothing to do with anything at all aside from him wasting my time with a frivolous legal threat.




I can think of at least ~10 people on the forums who have threatened NoFap with various frivolous legal actions. Stop doing it if you don't intend to follow through and file. If you still decide to send empty legal threats, you're on my sh*t-list and you'll be banned immediately because not only is it an unnecessary waste of my time, this is a very personal threat against my work, my livelihood, and NoFap's ability to continue helping people. Don't say that I didn't warn you

 

If they file a lawsuit, their identity is already publically accessible through the court records. I'd simply take publically available information and share it with more people. Not discussing doxxing user identities here, but merely publishing a story transparently broadcasting if somebody files a frivolous lawsuit against the website.

If they can bully through the court system, I can tell others what they are doing.

Again, I don't think that it will happen. But I want to make it very clear that I wouldn't hold back if somebody made me spend a ton of money and time defending against a bullying lawsuit because they got their feelings hurt by a moderator.

Photos for the purposes of criticism are generally considered "fair use".
