i have had issues with porn and masturbation since 13. I'm now 32 and it is keeping me from a sound mind and productive relationships. I hate it. I want to stop. It never seems possible. I hope this site, community and tools will help. Any advice is more than welcome. The site still confuses me a little but I will explore it more.

I start a new job tomorrow. I just moved states quite suddenly. All new living arrangements and a new congregation. I feel as if I am not accountable to anyone now and that's not helpful. I am literally starting today. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

I have a close friend I am going to be checking in with. I just talked to him. He is supportive. I am also a recovering alcoholic 4.5 years sober. I can apply a lot of what I learned in NA and AA to this. I have prayer and daily bible reading. I want to be able to have a family some day. I don't want to commit myself to someone if I can't do it wholly. My problem is I am very lonely. And it fills me up to a point. I know it's hollow and meaningless. But it became a problem. I want to be able to worship my god and participate in my congregation with a clean conscience. I have felt very bad becaue I came to think maybe I didn't love god enough or that I was a bad person. But I am trying to change that view.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Welcome to the forum. Stability is important for recovery and starting over in a new city can be difficult. But it can be a good thing because you are leaving behind all your old routines and triggers. You're starting fresh and have the opportunity to establish new, healthy patterns.

Addiction affects all the relationships around us and it can affect our relationship with our God and Creator the most. No one is too far gone and once we fix this problem we can find ourselves feeling closer to Him than ever before. Col 4:2 encourages us to 'persevere in prayer'. Loneliness can also put your recovery in danger. Draw close to the brothers and sisters in your congregation. Meaningful relationships give us the emotional nourishment we mistakenly look to PMO to satisfy.

Continue to educate yourself on your addiction. Research ways to avoid pornography. Identify your triggers and learn to cope with the problems lying beneath the surface. I hope you find the resources you need to make your recovery a success.
