My speech to a woman who does not wear modestly

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by KennyKenny123, Nov 29, 2018.

  1. Ah, gotcha. That makes a bit more sense. I just tend to assume "religious" means "Christian." lol which obviously is not true, but I'm just used to knowing mostly Christians, so what can I say, that's where my mind goes.

Behavior is a learned trait. Girls that wear revealing clothing to entice a male, probably had a father or some male figure that made them feel shame about themselves early in their life. They rebel; they become curious about the thing they feel shame about. A trap. Much like porn addiction. Needing to feel validated because someone made them feel as if their choice in how much of their body they revealed was somehow tied to their worth.

Have you considered, that your beliefs might be creating the oversexualized & hurt woman you despise?

I'm a Catholic girl and in my religion werew just asked to dress modestly (but in jeans and t-shirts, not in a hirab) for going to mass, to help the priest not having lustful thoughts. Anyway, there's always a girl that gets in there in tight yoga pants but **at the end of the day, the priest, and so you and every male on earth, has control over himself to give in or to keep strong. So in a tiny part I'm ok with what you say, but to what point? What is a modest dress for you? A hirab? And everything else is lustful and inappropriate? Because I saw this pic one day: it was never the clothing the problem. Judge by yourself. A pic says more than a thousand words.

Okay, like i've said. I might be wrong in some areas. Fine, you corrected me. But tell me what is another way to make women ask themselves "How am i ungrateful" "How am i ignorant" by not calling them one? And not just that i provide evidence. That there is actually nothing that benefits them from wearing half-naked clothes. And that it is ungrateful to wear such clothes while others in the world don't even have the privilege to wear proper clothes. As much offensive it may seem to be, i really don't intend harm, nor do i hate or force them to do what i say so or what god said to do. Also regarding on atheism, is it not true that atheist don't hold onto religious rights? And no, i didn't call them animals. They have a brain, they can think. Why are you calling them animals when i didn't say it in the first place? But anyway, is inot true that they believe that whatever they do won't lead them to hell or heaven? That if they watch porn, "so what" is it to them? They'll say live your life and just have fun. They live while following country laws but unlike us, we have religious laws.@Brokenman123 this dude even have the audacity to say "so what if there is no meaning of life?". And lastly, you seem to attack on whatever wrong i said. Have i said nothing good? If yes, why won't you attack my evidence as why women were so and so? Do you agree with anything that i've said despite that most religions including yours taught people to wear modestly?

So, as a Christian, I do not judge. I do not judge my neighbors choice to hold true to her Muslim religion by covering up. I leave that between her & Her higher power.
Judgement does nothing but cause negativity, #amirite?

  6. Why do you feel it is your job to make women ask themselves that question? You are not God. He can handle that on His own.

It's one thing if you're speaking to a close friend who you think needs some guidance or correction, but it is NOT your job (nor are you permitted by God) to tell all of woman-kind that they are ungrateful and ignorant because they don't live life the way you want them to.

You keep coming back to this, and you're completely missing the point. It's just whooshing right over your head.

Let me lay it out real plain and simple for you:

It does not matter if you are intending harm or hating people or forcing them to do something. You are making assumptions about people's character and judging them for it, and that is WRONG.

When you keep saying "well, I'm not forcing them, etc" all I hear is someone who just punched a dude in the face defending his action by saying "well, hey, I mean at least I didn't kill him." Nobody gives a crap. Punching is still bad. Judging and assuming the worst of everyone's intentions is still bad. You don't get a free pass to be judgmental and rude just because you aren't using force or causing physical harm to anyone.

  8. Dude, you aren't even reading what I'm saying. I literally freaking said in my very first comment that I value modesty. So yeah, obviously I think in an ideal world, people should dress modestly. But i'm not going around saying that anyone who doesn't dress modestly is a bad person or they're ungrateful or ignorant. You're posting this on a public forum. What do you think gives you the right to declare all immodest women ignorant and ungrateful? You're taking one very small thing you know about them (that they were clothes that you consider immodest) and making tons of assumptions about their character as a person. That's messed up.

So no, I don't need to refute your "evidence." Evidence of what, I'm not sure. All you're sharing is an opinion.

And yeah, I am going to point out that you're acting wrongly. You seem to have no problem pointing out how terrible immodest women are, so why shouldn't I be able to point out that you're being super judgmental and making ridiculous assumptions about people.

And notice how even when I say you're being judgmental, I'm not resorting to making any other assumptions about who you are as a person. Because I don't know you. You could be a perfectly kind person in every other aspect of your life, who knows. Just like you don't know the women you are so easily judging. It's just plain wrong, and I can't stand people using religion as an excuse to judge others. It just gives all religious people a bad rap, as everyone already things we are all on our high horses looking down our noses at the world already. It's BS and I'm sick of it. You are just as broken of a person as the rest of us, so have a little compassion and understanding before you go around making some declaration on a public forum that all women who dress immodestly are ungrateful and ignorant. You don't know them. You don't know what they are.

You're right. We can't judge a book by it's cover. The cover is the question " Why does women wear unappropiately ". So long as that question isn't answered. Then we don't know the intention of the person. I'll still wonder what "good" reason will they give to wear half-naked clothing. But i gotta admit, i was kinda insensitive, and i apologize for that.

It's call hijab* but anyway, wow... those men are literally the definition of perverts. To me, a modest dress is that which covers certain part of a body that might be sexually inappropriate for people. But wow, unbelievably horny bastards like the one you showed me really exist.

Are you a Boomer OP? It sounds like you are because you should know that modern day women are full on Thots or look like one. This is the Instagram/facebook/wear lingerie as regular tops generation. This is a generation led by the Kardashians and Beyonce. Modesty?! That's unreasonable and way too much to ask for.

  13. I don't either. Lol! I think what it was I was so annoyed by your posts that I wrote like that. It's kinda embarrassing because the entire sentence was a mess. But I'm actually glad you wound me up because I was tempted to relapse but when I saw your post I was so irritated that I didn't care about looking at porn. Lol!

The woman in the video I posted did. I guess you couldn't be bothered to listen to what she had to say.

Here's another video that explains a little bit more:

You're kind of right... As explained in Jessica Harris aka Beggar's Daughter video it's more about the cultural interpretation of the scriptures around modesty. The trouble so many people don't have an understanding of the culture and historic period of history so in my opinion, you have a fucked up understanding of what the Apostles were writing. I think once you start to understand the culture and historical period of the Apostle Paul you won't think he was sexist. So much of his writings have been contaminated by a Western interpretation.

As for Islam well maybe it's more about religion than culture... Maybe. I confess I know a little about this religion and there are plenty of more people who know more than me. But having said that I know a little so let's explore this.

    Surah 24:30

Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.

So I think either you have no knowledge of this verse or you blatantly disregard it. It's the men who are taught about modesty first! So where is your post about men dressing modesty? Nowhere! In fact, you do dismiss this verse by saying that women aren't interested in a man's body. Why would it say to guard private parts if women are asexual? I
Two more things on this verse:
It says you as a man need to guard your vision. Not complain about the woman's body and clothing on the internet nor does it say ask 'Why this?' 'Why that?' Only you can reduce your vision. And remember Allah is acquainted with what you do. Do you think Allah is pleased with this thread? Is Allah happy with how you're jumping all over women on this thread?

    Surah 24:31

And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.

Ok yes, believing women should guard their private parts but it's only for believing women, not for anyone else. An atheist doesn't have to follow this. The Bible does not teach this. Modesty in the Bible is more subtle than this. Like I said a cultural and historical understanding of when the scripture was written is required to fully understand what it is all about.

Sorry if I'm being harsh. The thing is this is just so annoying. I grew up in evangelical purity culture so I know the damage modesty talk does to men and women. It reduces women to nothing but their bodies and there's more to a woman than her body. Modesty talk is like porn. Porn tells us the only thing that matters about women is her body so she should show it off, modesty tells us that the only thing that matters about a woman is her body so she should cover it up. Either way, they're both are belittling and degrading women.

I don't really understand this part. But the part where you're talking about islam. You have said nothing but truth. You proved me wrong. Well done. Also, i don't mind your harshness, i was harsh and insensitive myself for assuming women are ungrateful for wearing immodestly. But i don't understand why you said modesty talk is belittling and degrading women. It's a discussion on women on how to wear good, not bad. I can understand if you said that the similarity is judging women. Anyway, I feel like it's a topic they must discuss amongst themselves in my opinion. They have their rights since they can wear what they want. This topic should be a matter for women. I don't know why i wrote this. I was just lying on my bed and i have the sudden thought of "Why don't women wear modestly". But i don't think that is wrong. I'm just doing a simple social study. The only problem with me is that i made assumptions. And i was sorry for that.

    You had me going.

  17. I'm a student massage therapist, and members of both gender end up on my table, nude, just about every day. I am also a devout Christian, and me both seeing, and touching bodies has never lead me to evils, nor have I ever been overridden with temptation. If I ever even get slightly tempted I recite the Lord's Prayer

    Pray then like this:

Our Father who art in heaven,
    Hallowed be thy name.
    Thy kingdom come,
    Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread;
    And forgive us our debts,
    As we also have forgiven our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
    But deliver us from evil.
(Optional Catholic) For thine is the power, and the Kingdom, and the glory, amen.

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

  18. Consider that, why beholdest thou the mote in thine sister's eye but ignorest thou the beam in thy own eye?

Hey.. uhm.. I actually agree that it would be a lot better if girls and women wore less revealing clothes.. I don't really know how to explain, it's just how I feel in my heart. It's bad.

But we can't do anything about it.. because I think more people think it's ok for them to wear really revealing clothes that make them look almost naked, which is disgusting. My opinion is : IT'S BAD.

The only thing I can do is improve myself.. oh dear..

But... uhm honestly I mean like WHY THE FUCK would you want to wear only a little bit of clothing.. I WAS ALWAYS ASHAMED OF SHOWING TOO MUCH SKIN SINCE I WAS 5 because I don't want others to look at me in a lustful way, because it's disgusting.

But since wearing revealing clothes can make us feel ''good'', I mean like give us pleasure when we look at the other sex, maybe we should feel like a gratitude then just go on with whatever we're doing lol? Idk
