Multiple Panick Attacks While Rebooting

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Freeddom_Taker, Dec 10, 2018.

  1. Has anybody feeling of "unable to breathe properly" while having panick attack. A feeling of getting choked? I've never made a fuss about them till now. It's the worse of the worst. While im having that panick attack im experiencing other symptoms such as bunch of random thoughts simultanously, intense nerves tingling sensation and light insomnia. I usually go through them but this time i decide to write this post to see if other rebooters experience this or Im having an issue requiring medical attention.

I can’t tell you how many rebooters I see making this same comment asking how many others have experienced the same thing (which should tell you that it’s completely normal). I’ve gone through it myself. Every single streak I’ve been on I’ve experienced everything you’re describing. 9 months ago I made it to 48 days, my longest streak yet, and after the second week I began having terrible anxiety and intense panic and also experienced IBS-like symptoms ranging from bloating and gas to diarrhea and terrible indigestion. They lasted well after I relapsed and didn’t let up until I had binged for close to three weeks straight. On my last streak which began in early September and lasted 37 days I began experiencing chest tightness, shallow breathing and heart palpitations after week three. I also nearly passed out in the shower due to heat exhaustion, which I think exasperated my anxiety and these associated symptoms even more. But that brings up the very telling point that along with these physical symptoms such as the tight breathing, upset stomach and palpitations, I was also experiencing debilitating anxiety at the very same time. I’m sure at least 75% of it was psychological and the other 25% might have been my body lashing out at me for not getting its fix of PMO. I strongly believe you have nothing to worry about as I clearly didn’t and am fine at the moment (although I plan to finally kick this PMO habit for good this time). It feels scary when you’re experiencing it but frankly if I had a dime for every testimony I’ve read that bears strong similarities to mine and to yours I’d own a restaurant...

For some reason last night felt like something was dragging me down in my bed while having the panick.

Absolutely. It sucks. I haven't been able to beat it but it comes and goes. I've yet to make it to 90 days, but I hear that after 90 days these things subside to a great extend. i really wish I could make it to 90 so I can report back. But absolutely I've been having trouble breathing it comes and goes, I think part of it is withdrawal and part of it might be psychological issues from negative life experiences who knows. I wish I had an answer for you. I've been going through it too if that makes you feel better.

  5. I'm in the same boat. Hellish panic attacks now and then. I also suffer from IBS like symptoms. I never had panic attacks or IBS like symptoms during my previous streaks. This time the withdrawals are the most brutal and unforgiving. I also have physical shakes and tremors now and then.

Thank you for the post man! I am about 40 days and honestly the beginning was probably intense but I started yoga and that is doing wonders for me and I work out during the week as well. I don’t know if I have social anxiety or not but am having a bit of anxiety during these coming days.

In your experience does this subside closer to 90 days. I have read it’s a roller coaster of sorts for everyone.

I have never made it anywhere close to 90 days so I cannot comment on that. On my last streak I was doing daily exercise which I think helped to prolong the onset of the withdrawal symptoms but when they hit they hit in full force. I relapsed just to get relief from the intense panic and racing thoughts. Funnily enough I’ve never once succumbed to urges. It is always the mental and physical withdrawals that get the better of me and cause me to relapse...

  8. Before i knew or read about Paws on the forum through google i used to make the same mistakes. Now im in the phase of quitting physical withdrawals and the mental that is there only. However progress is still made the days you didn't do pmo. You may feel the withdrawals came back worse each time you reset. But you have to go through the withdrawals in order for your brain to be rebooted.

  9. From my experience and other post it gets worse after 90 days. Things seem to slowly better after 6 months up to 2 years.

Yes, i've even been to the emergency room this summer. I wake up in the night and couldn't breathe, i thought i was having a heart attack.

For me the withdrawals don’t come back worse after a reset, the specific symptoms just change. On my last streak I didn’t have any of the stomach issues I’d had before but I did have the breathing/chest issues. On my last several 1–2 week attempts I’ve had the bloating and IBS symptoms return somewhat but no heart palpitations or chest tightness. I’m well aware of PAWS and am anticipating it accordingly...

  12. Yeah bro the first time that happened i thought i was dieing and started praying to God. Then i went to drunk some warm water. Actually i was scared to go back to sleep and possibly passed out.

  13. I relapsed recently because of all the traumatic withdrawal symptoms I was experiencing from a psychological standpoint. The thoughts that were going through my kind were such a mess that I felt it was not worth fighting.

But now I know better. Someone once said: "If you're going through hell, keep going." That's the only way through this mess. Be strong brother.

  14. Yep why keep going back to the same thing that cause all this pain in the first place? Might as well quit it for good!

  15. It's the excitatory neurochemicals man. They feel good when they are released into your blood stream but once they're broken down and convert into adrenaline you are in for some serious withdrawals. I have panic disorder too because of this shit. I know it's because of pmo and withdrawal because it's always worse when I would edge or relapse. Pmo addiction is basically excitement addiction. Unfortunately you have no idea of what that means until you experience hellish withdrawals. The endorphins are stress chemicals at the same time. They oxidize and irritate you once the pleasure is over. Porn and fantasy are self absorption and doing it enough times in a row causes a shift in energy, making it go upwards in your body, instead of remaining in the gut where it belongs. Once this happens you are no longer "grounded" and psychological distress is the logical outcome.
If it's chemical no matter how much you meditate you won't be able to cool down. The only things that can work are long term abstinence and reversed psychology/cbt.
