If I ever have a porn urge, should I Masturbate without Porn use? I had experienced this a couple of times and afterwards I was not in the porn mood. And I feel like it’s not a huge relapse, because I haven’t looked at porn. I know it’s not a good idea to Masturbate at all as it makes you less energetic and lowers your testosterone. However, when it comes to uncontrollable urges, Would masturbating without porn use help make the porn addiction thoughts disappear sooner the more as I do it?

From the studies I have heard about , masturbation without porn is better than masturbation with it since you have to work a lot harder to imagine certain feelings. It’s like first step towards complete control. But at the same time, masturbation itself can be addictive. And since you are a recovering porn addict you can also get addicted to masturbation. Another reason to avoid it is that your body can rationalize that “it’s not porn” to “hey it’s just one time let’s watch it for 5 min” pretty quickly. And you know what happens after. I think you have been strong keeping away from porn why let it come back this way? Keep working on it and don’t let this control you.

First, you need to decide what your goals and objectives are for being here. What brought you here ? What are you trying to accomplish ? Once you know why you are here, and what you are trying to accomplish, you'll be able to get a clearer idea of how you should proceed.

Generally speaking, a hard-mode reboot is the most effective, and quickest, way to progress a journey of healing. There are other ways to progress your journey and some folks do include MO in their programs. It will likely take longer to heal any physical damages if you use that approach.

If you haven't already done so, please read the "Getting Started Guide" available on this site's home page. It includes a lot of information that you will find helpful as you start your journey of healing. Also have a look at the "Glossary" on the top of this page for definitions of abbreviations and terms that may be new to you.

One day at a time is how we all succeed.
