Lust is Progressive

I learned an interesting thing today w/r/t my recovery: lust is progressive.

I can see this progression easily in my life. As a young boy finding advertisements for swimwear and being excited by it; later discovering a playboy mag but being only attracted to the "top half"; then discovering porn movies; getting into porn mags of increasing depravity; etc., etc.
The scary thing is that now I'm starting to fantasize about prostitutes. Yikes! I keep telling myself this is only fantasy... but now that i know Lust is Progressive...I know where my addiction is headed.

I'm lucky in one way - I grew up in a generation without the internet. Porn therefore progressed rather slowly for me. You young guys may not realize this but before the internet stuff like gay porn or transgendered person porn or whatever fetish porn was really rare. It wasn't until recently that this stuff became so common place. Heck, people joke about it on TV now! (i feel like my grandma telling me she never knew what a lesbian was until college.)

But with the internet as a tool to explore you lust, lust progression has reached hypersonic speed. You 18 year olds can explore deeper, darker areas of the internet than I ever could. And unfortunately for you, and all future generations, your youth makes you more likely to do it.

I think this is why a lot of you have these unbidden thoughts about sucking d and being with men, even when you're not gay. It's your depravity at work trying to break lust barriers. Your lust is progressing forward into the unknown dragging you with it.

Maybe it will help to personify lust that way - a deranged jackal pulling you towards ever-increasing depravity. And you keep inviting him to dinner.
