Losing grip of my addiction

    Lately I've been gradually falling back to porn, even despite knowing the consequenses of it. Sometimes I think why I have not stayed abstemious in regards to my recovery, is because I need reasonable benefits for me to do so, it feels so unnatural at times to steer clear of it. I have discovered that going back to old-fashion masturbation does not work for me, it leaves me wanting more, then I see no point in not watching porn if I let myself have a moment of relief. I no longer view porn as a means to escape reality, or to cope, now I just do it for the sake of boredom :/ But hence the post, I do not feel content with my decision. There were moments where I was about to cry, since I felt overwhelmed with urges and immidiately acting upon them, then feeling so much guilt for not having the backbone to say no.

  4. The only thing you can do is to wait it out. You must let these feelings past, but remember them well. One thing you can do is remind yourself how you never want to feel this way again when you are thinking about PMOing in the very near future.

    Masturbation is a terrible habit in my eyes, there is no argument logical enough to make me take it seriously in the sense it can have benefits.

    SO don't feel like you are missing out?

    I used to thrive on all kinds of metal. Also electronic stuff and a bit of epicness.

    I find that music is a shallow aid but it can be an aid for sure and there is research supporting that.

    These days prayer and spiritual teachings are what it takes to bring me out of PMO induced despair. But even prayer is limited by my own ego so I guess it is like now I realize I end up in despair because I allow my ego to throw me off the wagon and it usually happens when I stop trying to help and support other people and wind up in ingratitude.

    I mean like there are neurochemical reasons for you to feel like you are empty and in despair after wasting your essence but for me this shit is so monstrous like I feel science doesn't offer enough of a solution.

    On an anatomical or rather biological level tonic herbs restore my vitality quickly now I just need to focus on balancing it all.
     
  7. There are no real benefits to masturbation at all. The only thing I could possible think of is that it can relieve sexual frustration (only problem is that we may become too dependent on it and use porn to supplement this). I agree with you, but calling it a "terrible" habit may be too much. I'd say it's a "counterproductive" habit to an otherwise healthy lifestyle.

    It does really bothered me a lot, I always feel really bad for it.

    Troels: I think you've already benefited from trying NoFap. You've figured out, for example, that you're very tempted to "do it for the sake of boredom." That seems a useful insight. Maybe boredom is a bigger problem than you previously thought, and you can take this opportunity to find things that make you less bored. (I know -- easier said than done!) I think there's value in trying NoFap for at least a month, maybe several, simply to see how it goes. Watch your sexual urges and frustration come and go -- and come again! See if you can find other activities that make you feel better. I guess I'm "sold" on this idea of experimenting with NoFap because last year I tried a kooky diet that didn't cut calories but disallowed many food groups. Surprisingly, I discovered I had a major food allergy. By now avoiding that food group, I've eliminated major symptoms. Worth a try!
