I've come to the conclusion that NoFap life, while great for training will power and discipline, has not brought me advantages I was hoping for. I still lack energy, I'm still depressed as fuck and arguably even more anxious than while binge Fapping. I understand the culpit for that is not using binge orgasms to flood my brains with dopamine and oxytocin anymore, but it still sucks. I have to work out like crazy every day to come even close to be OK depression and anxiety wise. I've hurt my leg real bad 10 days ago and I'm going through mental hell now because I can't exercise. I nearly got mental breakdown this weekend because of a f... rough phone conversation. I really want my I don't give a fuck about anything attitude back that binge PMO gave me. It's better to be numb than anxious and depressed all the time.

That being said, I have no intentions to get off hardmode before 90 days mark. I figured out it's still better to be "sober" and suffer than to be drowning my misery in endless compulsive binge fapping. Compulsive binge PMO sucks big time, but so does anxiety and depression without PMOing. It looks like I'm fucked either way.

Sorry for the rant guys, I needed to get this off my chest. I know I wouldn't have this thoughts if I could just ride my bike uphill or run 10K to get my endorphins fix. Once a junky always a junky, I guess.

  2. It’s fucking miserable right? But miles better than PMO! Slowly things get better in time mate I promise. Patience really is a virtue when it comes to this process.

Dude, life is hard. You have to get on with it, because you can't change it.
If you feel f.. up at the moment (or you feel that life sucks) consider taking up a new (and challenging, gotta imply on that) hobby.
For example, when I took on an online-course on Coursera, it completely changed my life. I placed first in the regional competition and I'm presenting my so-called "state" in the capital of my country in two month. I feel great about my life (although porn is still a problem for me), and it all started as something that I would "have fun with".
and yeah, if you are feeling down, I'd also suggest seting yourself a long-term goal. IF you do it right, it will motivate you to get up in the morning A LOT.
anyways, I hope this helps. Also, what sports exactly do you do? I'd like to start exercising and I need some advice on that.

Meditation as much as you can but I understand after your binge and starting a steak the dopamine is low now. Try reading something or getting out even though the leg hurts. Can you drove at least with it right now..?? Get to a bookstore or with a friend that wants to talk ..

  5. 7 months in and it's ups and downs with me. More downs that I can't seem to function properly. Withdrawals become so unbearable that I recently quit a part time job.

  6. Honestly no pmo is not enough, i try telling people this all the time, nofap is about self improvement and constantly trying to better yourself, thing i do are cold showers, meditation, no pmo, and honestly i did not become happy until i changed my diet, i cut out all junk food, processed food, processed sugar, and honestly my life has meaning again, the foundations of nofap are no pmo, and healthy eating, unless you have both life will never get better.

Tell me about it... I've been miserable continuously for the last 5 years (buried father, 3 close relatives, broke marriage, lost job...). But yeah, I really hope it gets better. It's hard to imagine things going worse. Maybe being diagnosed with incurable cancer?

I'm on painkillers so I can't drive. I try to meditate to forget the pain, but no success so far. Friend did drive me out for a drink, but I was a lousy company. Stoned from painkillers :)

Thanks man... Life sucked big time in recent years. I want to finish sprint triathlon this summer, so I started running 3 days, cycling 2-3 days and swimming 1 day a week. Plus weightlifting 3 times a week.

That's what happens when you expect too much. The one thing I like about Narcotics Anonymous recovery program (12 steps), is that there's only one promise: you'll quit drugs. I take the same approach to NoFap, expecting that the only thing I will get from it is quitting porn (and closely related habits). The rest is up to me.

People are often attracted to NoFap by those promises of "superpowers," which have no evidence to be true. For some reason, there are those guys in the community who believe some bullshit like "women will start to chase you just because you're not using porn" (fat chance!). They post that shit all around the web and then other guys come here just to end up being disappointed in NoFap.

I never believed in "superpowers", but I did expect less fatigue. Maybe some improvement on depression and anxiety front. But from my previous +90 hardmode streaks I can confirm that for some reason women do start flirting with you more, when you're few months into "hardmode". I don't know why, it might have something to do with pheromones, higher testosterone levels, more self-esteem etc.

How about you throw a vitamin D supplement and vitamin B complexes into the mix and see if it helps alleviate depression symptoms? I know you get sunbaths almost everyday because I am following your journal but just give it a go. Congrats on a successful 70 day streak btw, man. I wish you a speedy recovery, mate.

Thanks man... I'll add vitamin B complex to my diet probably in a form of multivitamin tablets. It can't hurt to try it. Best of luck on your nofap journey.

As with any anecdotal evidence, it might be just an example of confirmation bias. Humans don't have pheromones, testosterone levels are not affected by porn, and maybe only your self-esteem could be a real factor, mixed with many others which you don't even consider. So, there's always some bias, and I still think that the only direct consequence of NoFap is quitting porn, which in turn may have some benefits in dopamine-related brain functions such as motivation.

I found that fish oil supplements really helped me keep an even balance with my moods. Less peaks and troughs, more middle ground.
For me, as a 20 year depression sufferer, feeling more in control of my moods was a big boost to have confidence that I'd get through it.
Then I started to build positive mental pathways. Think happy thoughts. It sounds stupid to do but it actually worked.
    Keep strong.

I don't want to argue, but story around pheromones and humans is inconclusive at best: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3987372/
Regarding orgasm abstinence and testosterone studies are all over the place: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11760788

Plus no study has been done to my knowledge on people with compulsive sexual behavior problems (binge masturbators). It's one thing to measure someones T levels in subjects that ejaculate 1-3 times a day for 2-3 weeks and another if test subjects do it 5-10 times a day for years.

I am starting to fantasize more now than the first few months.

I wonder if this is the stage in 5-6 months you were telling me where relapse was greatest. I am catching myself getting more bold starting to casually gloss over pictures and then close the images quickly.

I am doing my best to keep strong but is getting a bit tougher day by day.

Did you start to feel better after five months you were saying before...?? I starting feeling some PAWS symptoms last Friday when everything was going good. I guess it’s gonna take more than six months to shake the PAWS then.

  17. Are you saying fish oil alleviate the withdrawals symptoms or paws?

  18. Yeah I hear you. I had to quit cause my thoughts we're spinning out of control. Somehow, like you I miss that care free attitude I used to have eating junk food, drinking, and fapping all the time

I really can't answer your question. It's really hard to tell when PAWS symptoms go away. I had zero interest in porn after 5 months of "hardmode". Then again I have zero interest in porn now, being just 2 months into reboot. I did start fantasizing about real sex more often as PIED symptoms improved. I relapsed after 200 days or so.I thought I was out of troubles when relapse happened. It didn't happen because I craved for porn, but because I became so miserable depression and anxiety wise that I couldn't cope with my life anymore. PMO was there to give me instant "safe" relief. So I guess guess foe me PAWS never really went away... I don't know. I'm starting to believe that in my case PMO has been just coping mechanism to "ease" my depression and anxiety. Or maybe it's a mix of porn related PAWS and underlying depression/anxiety that fucks me up every time I try to change my life. I wish I could give you better answer but I'd be lying. My life is a mess and I try my best to improve it, not very successfully so far, that's all I can honestly say.
