Jocko Podcast 3: H. John Poole, 'The Last Hundred Yards'

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Aug 8, 2018.

    • Do not sit stuck in your own brain afraid to ask others for help
    • Knowledge is fine, but it is useless without common sense
    • Don’t be paralysed by thinking and being locked into a way of thinking - be bold, take action
    • One must continually study the possibilities
    • Your opponents will have similar skills and similar resources - so what makes you different?
    • You get better when you are trying something new
    • Exercising initiative will give you freedom
    • Only he who suffers, remembers
    • Human beings want structure - life is not structured
    • If you try and control things are not controllable, you will destroy yourself
    • Honour is more important than strength
    • “What can I take away from their perspective?”
    • Have low expectations of humans
    • Most people you meet you cannot rely on
    • When you are in a leadership position and do succeed, you do not take responsibility - you pass that onto your team
    • If you can say the word good, it means you are still alive. You still have some fight left in you
    • Get after it
