Obeying the Ten Commandments would make you happy, but I have some news for you, you CAN'T! Even if you kept every law perfect from now on, you would still have done bad things before that you couldn't do away with. Only by trusting that Jesus died in our place, can we be saved. He kept the ten commandments, the whole law, for us! That's not to say we should ignore the law, not at all! We should be thankful for God's mercy and obey his commandments with renewed joy.

Whenever I try to beat my addiction by just obeying the law, I fail. I am a creature of sin that can't succeed on my own, and I need more than law, I need grace. Does that make sense?

  3. Yes, I totally agree. All I'm saying is that turning away from sin and obeying the Ten Commandments to the best of our ability (from now on) will lead to happiness and eventually salvation down the road. Not saying that we don't need Jesus don't get me wrong He paid the price we need Him. Amen and thanks for your response

Ok, I get what you are saying, but I disagree when you say, "obeying the Ten Commandments to the best of our ability (from now on) will lead to happiness and eventually salvation." If by salvation you mean that we will be fully glorified in the new heavens and earth, then yes, I agree. But using the word salvation there makes it sound like keeping the ten commandments is what saves us. I think we agree, it's just I want to make sure we're using the same terms in the same way! The way I have been taught, salvation/justification is what happens when we are first saved. Sanctification is the process by which we are made better and more Christlike through our lives, and glorification is the final state in heaven.

If you would like to explain a religion, you should do it here. Advertising for another website isn't very helpful.

My understanding is that Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in the deity of Christ. That is a twisting of scripture. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John goes on to say that Jesus is the Word. If Jesus is the Word, and the Word is God, then Jesus is God.

  11. But we have to be born again right? What do you mean by first saved? Baptism? It's confusing because baptism should in fact take place after one is born again (in the Spirit). I think that in order to be truly saved we have to prove ourselves first by turning away from sin (even when already baptized), and that we are saved at the moment of death. But I guess God only knows. Either way you are right Jesus is Savior and the only way to the Father is through Him.

an honest question here: how do you feel about the verses that discuss baptism as part of salvation (Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Galatians 3:27, Romans 6, etc. ?

As context for this question: I totally believe repentance is necessary for salvation. It is, however, given equal weight as baptism by Peter on Pentecost in Acts 2:38.

Totally agree with your last sentiment, Jesus is the only way! John 14:6

Sorry, I think the terms we are using we are using in slightly different ways. By "saved" I mean that we are justified. The Holy Spirit shows a person their sin. The person is then pointed to Christ, and believes. If he believes, then at that moment, he is "justified." This means that if it were a courtroom, God looks at the person and says, "Not guilty! In fact, you are righteous."

And I agree about baptism. Baptism is a sign, it doesn't have a physical power to save. It shows that a person or child is part of the covenant, but it doesn't guarantee they will go to heaven.

What I don't agree with is that you say, "we have to prove ourselves first by turning away from sin."

The Bible says we are, "Dead in our sins and trespasses." Think about this. If a person is dead, he cannot do ANYTHING. He can't even move, let alone prove something to God. God must make us alive FIRST, and then we simultaneously believe. After that, we do good things not because we have to earn our way to heaven, or prove something to God, but because it makes God happy.

I like the contrast you made between salvation and justification there. Can you elaborate on how God makes us alive while we simultaneously believe? Thanks! PM me if that works better for you

Actually I would disagree, I would say they actually feed off your power. You are THEIR slave. How are they your slave, when you are enslaved by them? I think it's a power sponge.

Lust isn't bad as it's the procreation fuel. And lot of religions have said greatest union is of the yin and yang. But there's a limit to even drinking water do it too much we end up with 7 billion people on earth. Only insecurity seeking something outside makes us seek pleasure of orgasm, if you just let the storm pass those urges last about 15-20 mins or even symptoms that make you feel you gonna die but it's the biggest salesman inside you selling you shit you don't need. It's what we hear the most, common sense we hate to admit, coz of us movie raised generation "hey man there's so much more for me out there bro" that thinking needs to change see inside through meditation. It will freak you out first but you must have the Big Bang to let the mental planets calm down. As far as evil - ancient times people made kama sutra as devotion to act of sex so i don't know if evil. Evil is the salesman within that makes you overindulge in everything, phones screens are black mirrors you seek pleasures from. Black magic? Maybe maybe not. All outside is forever constant but that watcher inside you who's been observing all life is steady. So rekindle that friendship with that observer inside again. From east to west ALL masters have said same shit over and over but we are so sold on modern day lights marketing pings dings etc. we are star struck by the "products". Just balance out your consumption that's all. You can't run away from life but must know how to maneuver through a rush hour that's all. Done. Good luck.
