Lust and sexual pursuits are a way of reassuring ourselves by feeding on the human glory of another person. A woman’s hair has glory (1 Cor. 11:15) and the glory of human beauty and strength are both attractive. Glory is always attractive. However, the glorious beauty and strength of God are greater than any earthly glory you or I could ever see, feel, taste, hear or want.

One thought is that sometimes we try to quench our desire for God by lustfully feeding ourselves with the glory of how other people appear (e.g. Porn). Lustfully feeding on the appearance of other people is a form of stealing. The robbery that happens make us the predator and them the prey. Afterward, we reassure and pride ourselves on how well we took advantage of them without getting caught. But God always knows. It hurts Him deeply when we feed on sexual things because we could have so much more, something so much better.

The Bible says, "The eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deut. 33:27). The more you let yourself delight in His love, the more you will find freedom to believe. The more you believe, the more you will let yourself be open to experience His presence as He holds you close.

I believe porn is evil, but most nowadays are too afraid to call something evil or sinful. Mostly because they blame guilt for their predicament and not the actual material itself. People think if they could just be "liberated" from traditional outlooks regarding sex and sexuality then they will be truly free from guilt and then from addiction. I know because I was one of those people. I thought we just need to bring sex out into the open and study it and make it public, as if licentiousness would lead me to freedom but it never did. In the end there are certain things which lose their value and become distorted when made public and that we best respect the value of these things when we keep them a private matter between individuals.

Porn is the perfect example of how making these things public can and usually is very damaging to anyone who watches them. Most will defend porn as "self-expression" when the reality is nothing of the persons true self, their personality, is ever expressed or revealed. Porn is anti-love becuse it is anti-personality. Your personality is what makes you you and love is an appreciation of personhood/personalities, an appreciation for that part of us which is unique and which cannot be replaced by another person. Porn on the other hand strips people of their personalities and focuses solely on carnal areas and assets. By doing this they dehumanize the individual by turning them into objects. Porn isn't the expression of self and it never could be. This is why it can also never be considered as art.

The fact is that a slave cannot decide to submit or not. He is obligated to submit himself because is a slave and the master is who rules.

 

Of course it's evil. Porn is the absence of love like how darkness is the absence of light. The great news though is just like how one little candle can dispel darkness, so too can little acts of love dispel porn from our lives!

 

Be kind to yourself as well as others. Kindness brings light. Light fades away the darkness and evil melts away.
You can't eradicate evil until you see the good in you and are willing to embrace the good inside you despite any imperfections.

Forgive yourself as well as your past actions and move forward. Really, God will always be on your side
By doing nofap itself, that's atonement enough. Do good, see good, be good, feel good and really God will be super happy. Replace the evil you did with the good you are doing, can do and continue to do.
Forget the past. Your past will always be with you but your past won't define you.
Your past is not you.
Only you are you.

Be the light you always wanted to be and see yourself from that perspective and be relaxed, carefree and love living.
Don't be so hard on yourself and continue moving forward.

where did you get the 85% figure from? I found one article from 'fight the new drug' that said that, "No less than 36% of porn performers admitted to being molested as children, compared to 29% of non-performers". Which btw is unbelievably creepy that the number is that high for anybody, however it seems that the childhood abuse rate for porn performers is only slightly above that for other women, and is way below 85%.
