Then why do these women enjoy themselves so much even sometimes take the initiative? And there seem to be no shortage of these women either who are willing to do this judging by the amount of these porn sites.

Not to derail the thread, but which books? I feel like learning more about what really happens behind the scenes and in the emotional lives of these people would help me develop a more negative view of pornography, which could only help.

    Simple Answer: Fuck No.

Reason: Porn Is not good.Period.It Fucks Up our brains.Makes us see real women as tits and asses only.We lose interest in our life. And is addictive as hell.Everyone watches porn once will surely return again and again until they realize that this shit is as same as fucking bad as cocaine or weed or any other drug.Period.

Alright, I'll check it out. I've read a fair number of books specific to porn addiction, but few that focus on the lives of the actors and others involved in its production. As mentioned, I think that learning more about the problems these people deal with as a result of taking part in the production of pornography will give me another reason to abstain, so I appreciate you taking the time to forward the info.

Bottom line: It's not good, at all, but some people can use it without ruining their lives. We can't since we are here.

  12. There is not a single ounce of good in porn or lust. It absolutely wrecks hearts, minds and lives.

  13. This is a good conversation! My NoFap journey has raised several questions about sex and porn in our society. Several studies have been done since at least the '70s that suggest porn availability leads to a decrease in sex crimes. This article: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blo...evidence-mounts-more-porn-less-sexual-assault sums it up nicely. Take it or leave it, but there's evidence that porn has its place in a healthy society. I'll also add my own experiences. I was under the belief that many of my kinks and personality flaws were caused by long-term porn use. But guess what? I quit porn/masturbating and my desires were still there. My fantasies did not go away. Porn did not "make" me this way. Blaming porn in many ways is another from of "learned helplessness" where the victim feels he/she has no power to change anything. Many things are toxic in large amounts. The danger with porn is there's very little education to go along with it. Teens are being exposed at young ages while their parents/schools/etc avoid the topic of sex. There's no one to tell them it's only fantasy... the real world isn't filled with beautiful women waiting to fulfill your every desire. As for the violence against women portrayed in porn, it's not that black and white. Don't think I'm downplaying it, because I'm aware real abuse goes on, but many women enjoy being dominated... just look at the sales of "Fifty Shades of Gray." Again, it's about education. Teens need to be told that it can be okay in a loving relationship if both partners agree to it. Bottom line, I don't think porn in itself is good or bad. It's all about context.

  14. Porn fuels organized crime though, so yes it is objectively bad.

  16. From what I understand more porn leads to warped views and ideas about consent, especially for those exposed to it from a young age. Porn use has been linked to many cases of sexual violence and physical violence in the past and present. The argument that says porn leads to less sexual assault I don't feel is valid since if you are making that statement then it would be logical for example to give self confessed or convicted paedophiles access to child pornography or psuedo child pornography in order to supposedly prevent more harm. That just doesn't make sense, every child protection officer or criminologist will tell you that those who view this kind of content have an increased risk of committing a contact offence, why would that be different with adult porn? I believe for a lot of people, although they wont admit it, using porn is essentially a form of 'rape practice' since the porn itself is innate and there is no two way conversation between the viewer and the content, with porn it's yes every time. With a real life partner you have to gain their consent first. Of course you could argue that adult porn is consensual in itself but there is no real way of knowing for sure since a lot of the women and some men in porn are trapped in situations they can't get out of, for example feeding a drug habbit, or falling into porn from prostitution, being coerced into it by a controling partner etc. I think you should read more about the lives of ex porn stars and see where the real harm is.

  17. That's an extremely weak argument, because many things have fueled organized crime... A good example would be alcohol during prohibition. Does that make alcohol objectively bad? It's a fact that alcohol has wrecked many people's lives, but it's also a fact that the majority of people drink in moderation with no ill effects. The alcoholic can only place so much blame on the alchohol.

  18. Ok... Just because other things fuel organized crime that doesn't exempt the fact that porn also fuels it and so it's objectively bad.

  19. Much of what you're stating is conjecture and not fact. If we (us as a community) want people to take porn addiction serious, that can only be done with actual evidence, not anecdotes. You don't "feel" the argument is valid, but it is a fact with several studies in several countries to back it up. The article you linked actually reinforces the argument:

"This subject has been studied by scientists since at least the 1960s. There is currently no scientific evidence that proves that sexually explicit materials cause sex crimes. There is, however, limited evidence collected over the last 25 years that the pairing of violence and sex may indirectly shape and affect the attitudes of some individuals."

A common mistake I see in your response and several others is one of causation. It goes like this: Sexual offenders are often users of hardcore porn, so porn causes individuals to become sexual offenders. However, there is little to no factual evidence to back this up. Statistics show it's the other way around; convicted rapists were more likely to have NOT viewed porn, or viewed less porn than the average Joe. Child porn doesn't "create" pedophiles, pedophiles view child porn because it's what they're attracted to. Many profess their disorder developing at an early age, although not fully realized until later in life. Most completely acknowledge there is something wrong with them. Back to rape, explain the high rape rates in war-torn third world countries without internet or heavily censored internet. Also, rape is not even about sex, it's about control. And porn is not "rape practice." I have never once considered violating a woman because I was taught that rape is wrong. As I stated in my original response, it's about education. Young people should not be viewing porn, and better measures should be put in place to keep it away from children. I definitely understand that porn stars may be trapped in situations... that's one of the reason I stopped watching. That doesn't make porn itself bad though. People can, and will, exploit anything.

  20. Let's step through this logically. First, do you believe alcohol is objectively bad?
