Instead of trying to break the habit, how about *breaking down* the habit(s)?

    In other words deconstruct the whole process. A simple way to do that could be to simply record every single thing you do throughout your day and then look for the patterns and what might have caused what.

    If trying to create a good habit, that also works - see where you stop. Repetition may be essential but it isn't everything.

    Imagine if you could what it would be like if not only one person did this but we have a number of people actually looking at things in detail on here and then compare notes. Of course, just counting days doesn't require you to think about it. You can go into the usual narratives of victory and defeat, rinse and repeat. At least until you get sick of it and want to go further.
