In my 780 Day or reboot, I am uninstalling K9 from my computer

Discussion in 'Success Stories' started by fercho29, Jun 30, 2017.

  1. Hi Fapstronauts:
Today is an important day in my reboot.
It is the day 780 of my new life, and I am taking a big step towards living a happier and normal life, after 40 years of PMO darkness.
We know how useful K9 is to help us to avoid browsing porn and staying away from triggering images.
It helped me many times to avoid relapsing.
But we also know that it can be a nuisance, because several times it blocks websites without any sexual content, and once or twice a week we need to restart the computer because it blocks the whole Chrome. At least this is what happened to me.
Although it was always a nuisance when this happened, it also helped me as a reminder that "I am in reboot, I am a rehabilitated PMO addict".
But today I felt confident enough to make the step and uninstall it from my computer.
It is like officially telling to myself: " You completed your reboot, you have been clean for more than 2 years...let's move on with life".
I know I cannot forget what i was 2 years ago. I should not.
This is a delicate balance between : "never forget to avoid falling down again in the PMO trap" and " I need to move forward and start living a happier and normal life".
For the same reason, i keep coming back to NoFap, but instead of 3-4 times per day as before, I do it 4-5 times per week. I do not want to forget the creep I was, and I want to help other Fapstronauts to quit this shitty addiction.
    Let's keep on fighting

  6. It is one of the most effective porn blockers. It works for computers, and since a few months ago also for tablets and cell phones.
It is super effective and makes an extra layer of protection to avoid browsing porn
And it's free. (I never understood how they make money)
    You can download it here:

K9 was produced by Blue Coat, which has been bought by Symantec, so they make money from other products produced by Symantec now I think. Anyways, it's a great blocker because of how it works across pretty much all browsers, and wish you all the best in your PMO free future.

With K9, I found it slightly annoying at first when it blocked non-P sites. But you can just add them to a whitelist so they are not blocked in future. With that small adjustment, I know it is on there in the background but is a never a problem.

  10. Hi @LoyalKnight , here are some tips:

It is a big step if you can understand what is triggering your urges, because this will allow you to be awake and kill those urges as soon as they appear.

I recommend you to create your own "Emergency Toolbox" with readings that can be handy to read when you start feeling urges to screw up.
I can share this post with you with my own Emergency Toolbox, it helped me a lot during the first few months, i had them in my cell and read them every time I started falling down:

I wrote some tips in this post that perhaps will help you too:

You can watch some interesting videos which are also very helpful in this post:

I also suggest you to read "Breaking the Cycle" by George Collins, it is a must-read if you are serious about getting rid of this addiction.
To get more focus and feel happier with life I recommend you to start doing meditation.. I have been using an App called Headspace for the last few months which is great if you have never meditated before. The first 10 sessions are free if you want to give a try. I used to feel a bit depressed or feeling without energy to start new projects in my life, and meditation has helped me a lot with this.

Last but not least, I would strongly recommend you to take the NoFap Academy course if you can afford it. The course is great but the best value are the weekly video calls with @alexander (the creator of NoFap and NoFap Academy) and Mark Queppet, where you can chat with them in real life and listen to other guys's stories and problems too.

I hope that all this helps you to fight this shitty addiction.

  13. 780 days is insane, congratulations!! I read the George Collins book too and it's excellent, I'd highly recommend it to everyone on this forum. You're proof that this addiction can be beaten, I'm only beginning my journey but your story is very inspirational!

  14. Yes @Ronjonqq1960 , I am married , although my wife is going now through her menopause , so she does not feel like having sex too often. It has been six weeks now, and this makes my reboot harder because I feel more horny and have more sexual dreams and fantasies

  18. Hi @eddie.n.32 , K-9 is one famous porn blocker, but there are many others.
I have used it for more than 2 years and helped me to avoid several times to start browsing porn and P-subs automatically. During years I did it without even thinking, it was such an automatic reflex. K-9 is a way to tell you: Stop, what are you doing? You are better than this"
You know your password, so you can cheat if you want. The idea is that it helps you to think it twice before you type the password.
You can create a random password and give it to a friend, but this is not convenient becuase many times you will need to type it because it may block non-porn sites
Some one explained me that you can dd all these sites you do not want to get blocked to a list, but it will require a lot of work
    Stay strong

  19. You know that PMO is not the center of your life any longer, when you can live a happy life, without even thinking about porn and random hook ups and sex all day long.
Yesterday was my 26th month PMO free, and I even forgot the date.
Until not so long ago, I was counting days, later weeks, and later months free of the addiction.
This is the first month I get that day.
I know I still need to be alert and never become complacent, because this is the recipe for relapse.
But it is nice to leave the addiction back in my life
    Stay strong
