Wanted to make this thread to reflect on my current streak and emphasize the importance of longevity and sustainability as they pertain to the various facets of both nofap and general self betterment.

I want to start by saying that I am proud of anyone and everyone who comes to the forums and is even attempting nofap, no matter how much progress you have made or how long your best streak is. I have learned that nofap is all about mentality and making the first step is the hardest and most crucial stage.

In this thread I would like to discuss the ultimate goals of nofap, the change in mindset and rewiring that occurs from a long streak, as well as why and how to maintain a long streak and consistently practice self betterment to make the intangible tangible.

I want to keep the discussion more general because I definitely believe different things work better for different people. However I would like to give my personal experience so you all know where I stand and learning from myself on my nofap journey is the primary source for the knowledge I have.

There is so much to discuss but I will try to keep it brief and simple. I am 17 years old and am on day 139 of hardcore no pmo. I have implemented a variety of self betterment in the last year the primary ones being nofap and fitness. These have been the pillars of my enlightenment but have also led me to other practices such cold showers and stepping outside of my comfort zone in social situations. All of these factors have greatly contributed to my increased happiness and quality of life. In my view there is only one piece of the puzzle that remains, which Is quickly approaching. The final part of my journey is finding a long term relationship that goes beyond sexual release. I am going to ask out my dream girl soon, but I won't bore you with the details here.

This is going to be a long thread lol. Now that I have given you some of my background I will delve into the evolution of my state of mind or the "rewiring" I have experienced and continue to experience deep into this current streak. I will be completely honest here, my initial reason for beginning nofap was to just get laid. I really didnt care about anything else, I was just tired of being a loser and wanted to start having sex with a bunch of girls. Now I realize how blind foolish and primitive my prior mindset actually was. The greatest gift nofap has given me is my new perspective on love. I am overwhelmed by the desire to be with someone without even thinking about sex. Everyone can agree that sex is great, but nofap has helped me see that long term love, respect, and mutual understanding is what a relationship should be based on, not lustful mating sex.

I am on day 139 today and I feel as though I have been completely purified; my porn addiction is gone and I have a healthy view of women. The benefits people seek to gain from nofap I now possess. Now that I have been cleansed and have achieved a pinnacle of inner peace it should be fine for me to resume fapping right? I probably could fap in moderation and still live a fufilling life and such a notion is at times tempting. However the urge to do so has faded. Personally I dont need to fap and so I wont. I never want to forsake the practice that has gotten me so far. So for me, the nofap journey will never really end. Its not a matter of days but a permanent lifestyle change.

Have a lot more to talk about but I want to try to keep the topics condensed. Hopefully these thoughts can be expanded upon in the comments. Would love to hear alternative personal experiences :D

Longevity is something that most of us ignore or ignored at somepoint, but once it becomes the focus it becomes the best solution.

I used to ignore this aspect in the beginning, spending all day with p-subs and eventually relapsed, and after switching the mindset went to see a therapist. "There's no good or bad things, the problem lies on how you feel about it" She said, and after thinking and analizing some of the people who are successful at NoFap, came to the conclusion that there's one group of people who are free of Porn forever.

They have one specific trace that makes them similar, and yet they can be complete different people. They are the people who hate porn. After would you wish to do something that you hate to do, and only brings harm when you have total control over it or do something you love to do and brings joy and happiness?

It's an easy association to make, and it only takes some repetion and smashing your computer until stop working... Ok it was unnecessary, but you get the idea. Worked on this association since the day after Christmas, and I'm with my phone near during day and night, confident that I free from it since that day.

I'd like to encourage everyone to try associating PM with bad feelings, and see how it goes.

I'm bumping this because I went back and read it and I really needed some wisdom from my past self. I'm feel good about this current streak.

Longevity is only important because of the experience, like a cover to a book with all the contents inside. Within those pages we find the dedication, the commitment and patience to endure and be unchanged by the pressures around us. The longer we can stay as ourselves far away from PMO, the better we endure and become more like ourselves. Indeed it we are purified because you remove the chains that pull us in different directions to be replaced by pure thought.
