I am not only struggling with porn, but also with my sense of belonging and purpose. I am currently struggling to figure out what I want to do with my life. Everything is overwhelming and I cannot get my ducks in a row no matter how hard I try. I don't suffer from any depression but I don't feel a purpose like my life is going nowhere and I can't solve it.

  2. Your purpose is like the core of an onion. It's hidden under several layers. By believing that you need a purpose to be happy, it's actually causing you to lead a "meaningless" existence. You can't see the core under all those layers. If you want to get to the core, you have to find things that you're capable of fixing right now. Work on just stripping away that outermost layer. Let go of the things you can't control and just focus on the things you can. It's not obtaining a purpose that people want, it's that drive from pushing forward and working on ourselves that makes us happy.

  3. That overwhelming feeling is your brain telling you to slow down. You're biting off more than you can chew and it's actually slowing your progress.

Belonging, at least in the social sense is very different from purpose. I wouldn't want to be dependent on social belonging, in fact I suspect this limits the progress of traditional recovery culture because of a certain groupthink attitude such that it is questionable that the average person will try anything new. If everyone has that perspective obviously nothing will ever change and it will remain stagnant and not be able to meet the challenges of new forms of addiction.

If someone is willing to forego the sense of belonging with the herd though, it is possible they may discover a fairly unique purpose.

In a non-social sense it could be said someone belongs to a purpose that is more meaningful because it is not part of the existing status quo. We don't need to have the same purpose in life but we can appreciate that each individual belongs in the context of their life situation without resorting to conformity.

I like that expression, might steal it from you :)
As for your problem, i agree with thesuperman. Try fixing what you can, see that every little thing that you get in order will make life a little better for you and maybe the people around you and you will realize how much good you can bring into the world.
