Just came back from a 3-day vacation/wedding attendance, and just to end my beautiful time, after the landing of the plane I was getting my luggage from above me and a woman with her baby son exclaimed to me 'don't decapitate me and you'll do me a favour'

Shit, like what the hell do people have these days?

This woman clearly exaggerated with her shitty attitude and over-victimized herself
To feel in the center of attention.

I really wanted to respond back to her but felt baffled. Even if she had her baby son with her I still do have the right to stand for myself.

Eitherway, I'm quite a silent type person and would like to stand up for myself more.

Not the easiest thing to do, but I would say the less it ruffles you, the better. Like water off a duck's back. Let go. Serenity. Kind of like mental kung fu. You are stable. Not off center.

    Even harder: forgive. Legitimately.

I wouldn't dwell on it. You can't make everyone happy in life and your guaranteed to piss people off no matter what you do. I would've laughed to be honest.

Another one I thought of: every time some random person does something like that to you, go out of your way to do something incredibly cool for some random person that same day. You will feel much better, so will that random person, the world will be a better place because you're in it. You win.

    Retaliate, everyone loses.

I sometimes have moments where I don't expect someone to say something so nasty and hurtful to me. During those time my fight and flight response kicks in. Worst case I found myself taking things too personal and it ends up making my day even worst. I found the most effective way was to smile at them and sarcastically say thank you.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

uhhh what if that person was my dad lol. I got frustrated everytime he got drunk. I was tortured by his evil mind, and so was he.

You're exactly right though. I completely forgot that you shouldn't let these types of things ruffle you anyway. You are awesome enough.

when sombody acts like that I just get angry no matter who is in front of me and stare him / her in an angry way than there are two things 1. they don't say anything, they can't figure out what to say and after that whatever they say is going to be please me try this bro works all the time.2. when I stare them some ppl might react harshly again now that u gotta do is say you're thing but in a very polite manner(while keep staring at them) and say like u mean it and try to say like u r a tough guy. those two things just nothing else condition never gets worse and u wins those 2 things I do always try first after some time u gonna used to it

I think this goes hand in hand with NoFap. Dont let people have power over your emotions. dont let that porn star make you lose control of yourself and dont let some woman with her baby make you angry over her stupidity. Let her have her little moment in the sun. It probably means a lot to her and its no skin off your back. Being proud of who you are is not the opposite of shame, but its source. Only true humility will let you become a more confident person

I really like your take on this in the first paragraph / the first 3 lines. However, I would like to point out to you that "knowing you are so much more aware and enlightened than they are" is just another ego-trap and far from actual enlightenment. Feeling better / superior to others is 100% ego. Comparing yourself to and judging them as being less enlightened is 100% ego. Plus, thinking and feeling the way you do in the sentence I quoted above doesn't really speak of your "humility" either. Just a quick reminder to raise your awareness of common ego traits in yourself. Don't get mad :D

haha after reading i get what you mean. Probably shouldve phrased it better, it doesnt sound humble at all lol. Had to edit it it just sounded too bad. The message is really that if our awareness and enlightenment come far enough its possible to dismiss someone who will try to bring negativity into our lives through their own unawareness and unenlightenment. In this NoFap community, we are aware that there is a problem in ourselves that needs to be worked on and we become enlightened in our self discovery through the process of NoFap. people who create negativity are not aware of themselves and live their lives in the dark. the important thing is to maintain balance in your mind and let that negativity wash over you. Pride being the source of our shame was because our friend jungler said he wanted to stand up for himself more as if he was ashamed of not being confrontational enough. but really confrontation is not the answer.

I would recommend reading the speech 'This is Water' by David Foster Wallace. Provides an alternative way of looking at such situations. Been reading a number of his works so far, and he has a unique way of expressing himself without sounding condescending or overly haughty.

Reminds me of a certain proverb which says don't play with the pig in slime. It just makes you dirty, while the pig enjoys it.

Just walk away from this kind of bullshit, seriously. Ignore people like that. Losers focus on winners. Winners focus on winning.
