How the Brain recovers?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 24, 2017.

  1. Hey, i wanted to know how the Brain recovers from addictions? i mean does it fully recover, and function normal again or does the addiction leave some damage to it?

Also about the dopamine receptors, after quiting addiction the D receptors will get back to normal and everything in the body will be okay?

    Thanks in advance.

it should get back to normal but that takes many many years of abstinence... the logic behind it is the same of why you can't remember a lecture from lets say 2004. the neuronal paths that led to that memory were shut down because of the lack of use of the information, in this regard, the neuronal paths opened by drugs or addictive behavior may fully close if the activity is never repeated. Again this whole take many years and it varies depending on each person and the amount of abuse.

about the dopamine receptors, they too should recover but i would say that getting your brain damaged back is faster for a recovered addict than it is for a person that never abused.

(sorry for any errors english is not my first language)
