Ever since this year started I've been struggling a lot with PMO. My longest streak was three months which was from September to December of 2018. I really want to get back to how I was within those three months. I don't think I've even gotten to two weeks without PMO/relapsing. It feels like I won't ever get to three months or more without PMO again. When I have urges kick in I come to these forums to read why you don't want to relapse, and I know exactly how terrible I'm going to feel after, and yet despite knowing that I still end up relapsing. I don't know how I reached a three month streak before, I don't remember it being this hard then. My mindset was really strong before. I guess I've just been stuck in a really bad chaser effect which obviously just makes me feel even worse about everything. I try to do productive things, etc to combat this yet it seems a relapse is always inevitable even when I actually have a good day. How have you guys dealt with situations like these? Any other advice?

The two first weeks are always the hardest. So it will often take all your willpower to overcome this period. After that abstaining will become easier.

The best advice I can give is to be mindful of what triggers you to relapse. If you see a pattern before you relapse, then you can be alert and avoid it, by either doing exercise, cold shower or simply get out of your house which will kill your urges. In the first couple of weeks, it's all about avoiding at all costs.

Another good thing to remember is that PMO is deceptive. You trick your brain to think it's getting sex. In reality, you're getting nothing. So 1 year from now, will you tell your friends that you got a GF or will you tell them that you sit in your room and watched porn? You already yourself know which scenario you rather want to have.

Extending off @Zapster21 here... Just like anything in life it’s will-power and having all your other “off the field concerns” in check in order to be successful.

When I first started I literally said out loud to myself in my room “I am done with PMO. I will become the best version of myself.” So I said that everyday, everytime I had an urge, everytime I felt lonely, everytime I saw a beautiful woman on TV.

Now not everyone is ready to change. I used PMO for 14 years to self-medicate along with actual medications, and thearpy to treat Crazy teenage hormones that lasted into my mid-20s. I would highly recommend thearpy to work out the reasons why you started PMO, in addition to quitting porn.
