am ashamed to admit that it was on an afternoon after hours of PMO after which I felt so guilty and ashamed that I searched the Web for how to quit PMO. I came across Your Brain On Porn website and I was aghast to see the extent of my addiction. I realised I had no hope if I didn't quit it. On that web page, several people had written that they had joined nofap and successfully over the habit or were at least close to overcome it, so I was inspired and I joined too.*Well that's my story, what's yours?

Actually I have really good memories of discovering it haha.

I was travelling in India at the time and met this really funny German guy called Stefan who kept going on about a website (won't mention names), but then went on to tell me about how he has quit porn, and basically talked about the whole ED/DE thing which hit a bell with me.

When I got home I started to google it and then came across the whole yourbrainonporn website. That was quite a while ago and I carried on with PMO, but then had a couple of humbling encounters with girls so decided to get serious about quitting.

I think after one of my fapping sessions, I became curious about the effects of fapping/porn on the brain, so I started googling around and I eventually reached the video on "The Great Porn Experiment" and that's how I learned about nofap.

Before this, I had tried to stop masturbation before (but not necessarily with porn, and also didn't stop edging) and that failed terribly. So after I started reading yourbrainonporn.com I realized where I went wrong (the porn and edging) and so I decided to try again and getting much more successful this time.

In a similar way to you guys I got fed up with myself after a phase of serious fapping, where it was really starting to disrupt my daily life and I was becoming sexully disatisfied, I finally realised something needed to be done about my long term compulsion.

I googled 'masturbation addiction' and was led to a video of a Nofap/Reddit member talking about his journey from 90 days in and how good it felt, why he did it and why he recommends it etc. It took me another couple of months of sordid masterbation to finally get the courage to try it for myself. I looked for the Nofap challenge online and found these forums, which gave me great encouragement in reading them.

It still took me another 2 weeks to actually get the courage to create my own Nofap account.... glad I did in the end :)

I was hoping to make a new start for a new year (like every year) but without a lot of hope. Then in a random kind of way did a web search for "the chemistry of pornography addiction" on the 9th of Jan at 16.10 Western European time. That was a life changing moment. That led me to a recovery site called Candeo then to YourBrainonPorn then the Great Porn Experiment TEDx Talk then a million other resources. In the process I discovered that I am not a weak willed loser after all - just an ordinary guy in the grip of some chemistry that went wrong but can be changed back to work right again after all. So far never looked back though I still have to be on my guard. This site has provided a huge support and encouragement for which I thank you all.

A few weeks ago I became very unhappy with my mindset on life. Basically, I was allowing myself to be a victim in a lot of areas. I started reading blogs on what it means to be a real man and meditating on how far we've fallen in the past years. One of the posts talked about NoFap, so I looked it up and started right away while keeping a journal of my thoughts and progress. About a week in, I wanted to find a support group and that's how I found you guys!

For me, PMO is just a symptom of a weak lifestyle that must be corrected in order to live a full and happy life.

I wish i had a great story but i don't. If memory serves me right i read a news article about the growing NoFap trend that started from Reddit (i never read Reddit). It was from the article that i read that i started looking into NoFap and then found this site.

A great story is one which has a great ending. It's great that you found out about nofap right when you needed it. All the best overcoming PMO.

Ditto that madrileño! It has been great to chat with other men who have experienced this porn problem. I like your line about 'not a weak willed loser, just a guy in the grip of brain chemistry that went wrong' I am going to quote that if I may, to some of the younger guys here who are so consumed with guilt and self-loathing and use lines like: weak, sinful, loser, fuck-up etc. that they will never overcome it. I like your powerful and optimistic tone. Thanks!

Oh, to answer the question, I found this through yourbrainonporn.com (YBOP) after I felt so bad after a two hour edging session that I started searching for arousal addiction websites. YBOP was a life saver as it explained the science behind arousal addiction and in so doing removed the unseen power it has. Like the lion knocking down the screen in the Wizard of Oz, it exposed the mechanism and reduced the problem in size (well it did for me).

I actually tried to quit PMO couple of times but I lacked the motivation. Then I saw "The Great Porn Experiment" tedx talk (like some of the others :p ) and the guy mentioned nofap there. I went on the site started reading, the same day I deleted all my porn, links and bookmarks (something I couldn't do before)and here I am.

Searching on YouTube for how to stop a masturbation addiction. Enjoyed the videos. Ready to commit. Been 4 days for me. Temptations overcome with some close calls. Appreciate the tips here.

For such a long time I wanted to be free from the compulsion of repeated masturbation. Even when it became part of a daily routine, I knew I had to do something about but just couldn't stop. I figured blocking all the websites, but then I'd find a way to get around that, hence I needed to consult the science behind fighting Internet porn addiction.

Your Brain On Porn (.com) hit home with me because the six part video series explains the chemistry that was going on in my head. And when it asked about addiction and I said yes to all seven of the questions, I knew I had a problem.

Since I've discovered there are online forums on basically any subject in the world, I figured that there would be a forum for people like me who I just want to live free from the clutches and the draw of pornography.

I was about to watch porn as per my usual routine when I saw an article with some catchy headline like "Porn kills kids" or something like that and I clicked it and read it and it had links to more articles and I just kept reading and reading about what it does to you and I started to question what I was doing and realised how absolutely crazy it was becoming. I read heaps of articles and watched some of those TED talks about porn and then found out about fapstronauts. I went to the reddit page and read heaps of the stories on there. There are some really sad and motivating stories on it. I then found this website and signed up straight away. I hate to think what my life would be like if I hadn't seen that article.

You are absolutely welcome. The fact that I can do or say anything helpful for some other guys with the same problem has been a fantastic bonus and another powerful reason to keep on this path.

My girlfriend told me to join because I have a problem and she left me because I watch porn, so now I'm a single man trying to rid himself of the worst thing ever introduced to man... Porn. If you want to destroy your life and live the worst life possible all you have to do is masturbate and watch porn and I guarantee you you will ruin your life
