Plainly, My addiction began around the age of 5, or earlier. It's plagued all areas of my life, as most every person who sees this post can relate to. I'm 36 and married now with 3 kids. I have a great life, yet Im troubled with tendencies to be drawn towards drugs and pornography. Since my early teen years I've tried eliminating my need to feel release through ejaculation, but even with my best efforts I've only been able to manage my binges.
Pornography has always caused problems and rifts in my relationship with my wife. I swear, sometimes, I'm asking to get caught just to get some help, but she doesn't understand the struggle. To my wife, the porn is personally offensive, but to me, it's a stimulus and almost hypnotic.
Regardless of my wife's understanding or the amount of time that I've had my addiction, I need to stop this; it is affecting more than just me. I'm thinking about my role as a husband and a father, and my addiction doesn't fit in that plan. I'm hopeful that this site, the tools, and the community will provide the help I need to finally find a resolution to my lifelong problem.

Welcome here! Nofap is a good place to start the journey towards a porn free life. Look around and absorb as much info and advice as possible. Then start asap! Find yourself an accountability partner (AP) and create your own journal to keep tabs on your progress. You are doing this for all the right reasons.

Way to go! Every journey has to start with the first step, and that's what you're taking here. Look around and read the stories of others. Read the stories of people who have successfully broken their addictions. Read the other stories in this thread and find that you're not alone. It is so empowering. You can do this!

Where do I find an accountability partner? In the nofap community? In my personal life?

Welcome to this community! You will fine a lot of awesome support here. This is a long and difficult journey, but one well worth it.

Here are some things I recommend:

-Start a journal to keep track of your thoughts and feelings throughout your journey, analyze them. Often times you can discover new things that can help your recover.
-Create a set of rules for your reboot
    -Create some goals
-Create a plan of action so when you feel triggered you can enact it immediately saving precious seconds
-Identify your triggers and as soon as you start feeling triggered, enact your plan of action without even thinking
-Remember to be patient, take one day at a time
-If you do relapse, learn from it, adjust your plan of action and rules and move forward - don't be to hard on yourself
-Educate yourself. A good place to start is yourbrainonporn.com

I hope this helps, Stay strong!

Hey my friend. It seems like you've been away for a while since joining. Welcome back. I'd echo what @ILoathePorn says. A good place to start is adding your thoughts and feelings daily to this journal.

I'd say an accountability partner - either in real life or online - will come in time if that's what you really need to help you.

Just start writing to get your thoughts and feelings out :) and then continue day by day.

    Good luck.
