Hi folks, new to this forum. I learned about nofap many years ago and took it seriously to a point, but never really understood the benefits until now. It just didn't sink in. So I kept yanking the chain, obviously.

Today is day 43 and I'm feeling great. It took me 3 tries of getting past that week/week and a half threshold before I managed to distract myself enough and just abstain properly. I flat lined on the second week, which contrary to a lot of posts I've read, I was grateful for because it just made resisting 100% easier. After that I got some basic urges back but nothing serious enough to relapse on. A few days ago however, I came real close to the point of no return. Plagued with ultra hot fantasies and all that. Doing okay right now.

Anyways one of the main reasons I started this is because I have been dealing with some dark thought issues for the past 10 years or so and I think this is the best way to heal from that. You might call them intrusive thoughts, kind of annoying. I've been noticing some definite improvements though, where I can go through social situations without having negative thoughts about people passing through my head. My brain just kind of blocks these intrusions from happening for the most part. I'm hoping eventually I just won't get the urge to have these thoughts period.

There have been a lot of other benefits as well, namely less anxiety, and I'm even seeing some improved social skills. I plan to make this a lifetime of abstinence, unless I meet someone and we get physical.

    So that's my situation.

  3. Heyyy welcome to the NoFap forum : ) It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a look at each section in the forum, there might be something(s) you may find of big help to you. Feel free to post there :+)

Then secondly I just strongly advise you to be active on your profile(as there quite a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then make daily status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement. They've also got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see. People will find your profile and give you encouragement/support.

People (are beginning to) love communicating in the profile section..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive talk. It would be great to have you join in and support others in the threads, profiles, and journal, we could always use your help and in return you shall receive some as well!

Thirdly, You should also highly consider creating a public journal and write about your days in more depth for us members to follow along your journey and offer support to you by way of posting in your journal.

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!
