Here's the deal-- my SO is doing a reboot and I am struggling. He also struggles with ADHD and depression PLUS he has dyslexia. So he shies away from reading too much (more challenging for him to absorb the material) but he responds well to videos, podcasts, and audiobooks. Unfortunately many great "breaking addiction" books aren't available on audiobook. He has watched the "Great Porn Experiment" Gary Wilson TED Talk and he liked it.

Recovering addicts, what videos/podcasts/audiobooks helped you realize how important it was for you to give up porn? What materials were particularly helpful to you stay on track during a reboot?

Recovering addicts and SOs of recovering addicts, what materials helped you reconnect with your partner? Helped you with emotional connection/empathy for your partner?

It's ok if they're not all links to videos or audios, I like reading actual books and will be happy to learn more too. I just know that throwing too much at him overwhelms him and I'm trying to support him in learning more about porn addiction and how to recover/reconnect.

First of all I think your attitude is great, he's lucky guy to have you.
As for advice, im new to this but am finding the PornFree radio podcasts really great. I started with episode 1 and listen to a few every day.

Matt Dobschuetz is the guy who does the podcast.

The Brick House is another good podcast I listen to.

I find it hard to tell my wife after a relapse so we've started useing the App rTribe. It lets me track my days of sobriety and sends an email to my side each week telling her how I've done that week. It's a good way of keeping communication about porn open between us.

Thank you for this suggestion! I figured there must a recovery podcast but am happy to hear there's one you've been able to listen to regularly. I will send all of these along to him (wish he would get on NoFap himself!!).

Search iTunes podcasts and YouTube for anything with Gabor Mate. He is a Canadian psychiatrist/MD and specialist in addictions and behavior disorders such as ADHD and OCD. In The Realm Of Hungry Ghosts is a classic text on substance and behavioral addictions. There is an Audible version available on Amazon.

I watched a few Ted Talks. They were very informative. Helped me understand the addiction. Than I read a book called think and grow rich. Helped me feel empowered. Now I listen to audiobooks and podcasts to keep me busy to try to stay away from P.

Sometimes it works. Have to get more focused.

I came across an interesting kindle book on Amazon a week or so ago. The book is The 40 Day Dopamine Fast. The author is a creative-type, experimenting with renouncing all the behaviors he does that he believes prevent him from doing what we wants or what he feels he should be doing. In his perspective these activities trigger a Dopamine release, which is why he engages in them rather than his writing, music, whatever. Inexpensive at $4.00.

The book is not focused on NoFap but I many of the principles apply.
