I think the site can definitely help you with this addiction. I don't know about anyone with that particular addiction, but at it's core it pretty much affects us all the same way. The object of the addiction doesn't really matter much in the long run.

On a serious note, I wonder what triggers your fetish. Is it the hair? Is it the head? Is it the hair colour? Or is it the price of a cut and blow dry?

You are correct. I guess I have a lot to learn. When told people I liked smelling women's underwear they used to think I was mental and deranged.

It's hard to know why particular fetishes develop in specific people ... but it's almost universal that all fetishes do have psychological underpinnings, often related to trauma of some kind.

Your fetish is certainly uncommon, but that doesn't make you 'weird'. Most fetishes are uncommon--that's why they're considered fetishes. They're 'outside of the norm'.

To understand where this came from, you'll probably need to do a deep dig into your past--think about any of the experiences you had growing up, and how they might have played a role in developing this fetish. Do you feel aroused when you get your own haircut? Could part of it be that you're imagining these women getting the same arousal, and that's what turns you on?

The important thing is not to shame yourself for having an uncommon interest. Probably every person in these forums has at least one 'thing they like' that they feel shame about, or that they probably wouldn't share.

Hey! So I joined NoFap because I'm struggling with the same issue. I've really had enough of it because it's finally taking a grip on my life where I'm not getting work done as I'm spending so much time looking at haircut videos. My husband and I are on the same health insurance so I don't know what I can tell him why I'd like to go for therapy but really, I wish I knew how I developed this fetish. I am a victim of childhood sexual abuse but since I was a child, I always loved getting a haircut. I always begged my mom to let me keep short hair but it wasn't until after college when I was finally able to get my hair short to a bob. Now I have a short bob, almost a pixie cut, but I can't stop looking at videos with women getting their hair even shorter than mine and wish I can cut my hair like theirs. Don't know what I can tell my husband why I would like to cut my hair that short given I just got my hair cut less than a month ago. Again, it's taking a grip on my life and I really really want to stop because I don't want him to find out what a weird person I am. I want to be compassionate to myself but it's so hard.

 

Hair fetishist here. For me girl with hair shorter than neck length just cannot be sexy. My P problem is about "hair P" like headshave videos. But I don't see my fetish as an illness.

Hair fetish isn't something "unusual". 7% of fetishists is turned on by hair (according to Wikipedia, look for "trichophilia"). Imho underwear fetish is also OK.

Well, I see headshave videos too and have fantasies about shaving part of my head, although not the whole because I know that I might like to see someone else's headshave but don't think I'll like myself bald. Previously, before I was married, I used to give myself undercuts and wore pixie cuts. My husband is OK with me having short hair but I'm embarrassed to admit it to him why I want it and that's why I wear an ear length bob/long pixie. I get the most aroused when I trim my own hair. Like I got a chin length bob at the hairdresser's but then at home "fixed" it to my current haircut and every snip of the scissor made me even more aroused. I do do my husband's hair sometimes but I don't have the same reaction to cutting his hair. Even the videos I watch, it has to be women with straight hair like mine. Wonder how and where I picked it up from.

You should try it especially if you've never had one before. I really want to get one myself. I went for a haircut a few days ago and the hairdresser was new and she wouldn't give me a pixie cut saying that I would look like a man. I wish I wasn't bullied by her because now I regret it but if you have the option of going short, why not?

It's very interesting to read all these comments. I've never shared my story, or talked to anyone with a similar case.. So this is pretty new for me. I am a 28 year old male and I too get sexually excited from seeing haircuts, especially shaved haircuts. It only applies to women, and for some reason I prefer when a head is partially shaved rather than completely bald. I've had this for as long as I can remember. I feel disgusted and weird, and I would never even try to share this with anyone within my friends or family as I am deeply ashamed. My ex-girlfriend "tricked" me into sharing this, and that's exactly the reason why she is my ex now. I guess I can say I am addicted to it as I watch haircut videos at least 3 times a week. I honestly can't think of a reason why I am the way I am. As far as I can remember, I've never suffered from a trauma that deep that would cause something like this.
