Had to quit job due to PAWS

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, May 9, 2019.

  1. I relate to most of that especially the job I work in construction as a plumber so believe me I know how it all comes down. Yea unfortunately that's the way this is I didn't feel functional at least on a slightly normal level till over a year and a few months. Exercise probably helped a little but nothing else did. I think it's important to sleep as well as you can to rest and repair but again withdrawals make it impossible, dont fight with your body you have to go with the flow.

It has gotten a lot better for me. The anhedonia has been on and off and my learning memory and short term memory is starting to pick up I've noticed in the last month. You might not even have as much as a severe journey as me.

The worst thing you can do is kindle and relapse when you're in PAWS as the symptoms get worse and worse and last longer as well. You need to tough it out no matter how hard lifes going. All the best man.

  2. I'm suffering paws from 19 months! Depression, anhedonia, anxiety, fatigue, low and when i say low it's really low mood (i've been even thinking about suicide) etc etc... This thing it's more serious than most people think...
I wanted just to add a voice and to let you know you're not alone

I am doubtful somebody on streak since 19 months and still recovering . It seems you have started PMO 19 months before and still you do it often so feel low.

  8. how do i know it's paws.... well, if i respond you i should tell you all my story with porn and it would take a long long time...let's just say that if one day you will get paws (and i pray god you won't) you will know

Can you tell how long you are on Nofap ? What is this 19 month duration . We all are here to listen life struggle no matter it big or small .

  10. Man this is not a competition, it doesn't win the one with higher streak, and also discrediting others doesn't help. I shared what i'm going thru only because few months ago after i was really contemplating suicide and i wish there would have been someone like me (or the other guys in this post) who told me "hey man i'm going thru it too"! By the way if u really wanna know it i've been completely clean for more than 1 year (even no sex), i only relapsed a handful time this year but only because i was so freaking desperate....

  11. I've done the same thing and not regret it one bit. The strange thing I've been hitting a lot 60 days streak back to back. But I was struggling with withdrawals in those streaks and still made the effort to go to work. I almost fought my supervisor( a female). Then I relapsed due to stress couple days later. Something happened 15 days later, I went into a coma(best way to put it) from a flatline blend with a bunch of withdrawal symptoms which last 5 to 6 months before I could go take a walk for even 10 minutes. 9 months now and still suffering with post acute withdrawals(paws).

Okay so it's 12 month . Basically I understand it's no competition but when numbers are wrong it can carry wrong message to people . And I don't know how you say handful of time but I hope it can be considered as relapse .

  13. Numbers...you wanna numbers...ok, so:
I started my journey three years ago, the first year was more like i would go one day and fail, than 2 and fail, than a week and fail, then 10 or 20, then again 2 etc etc...the second year of nofap (19 months ago) i took it more seriously (zero relapses) and this is when paws started, i relapsed maybe 7 times (i didn't count them) this year because (i know it's no excuse) but only because i was f*** desperate ...
Anyway 7 times it's the number of time i would have masturbated in 2 days 3 years ago and believe me it's not for this that my symptoms are lasting so long

Could be the case man.. Look up "kindling"..

  15. Your 7 relapses this year have continued the cycle of paws. You shouldn't relapse if you get paws. I thought you was 19 months no relapse, was it full pmo relapses?

  16. This shit is way more serious than people realise, it doesn't help that the main NoFap websites and people who pioneered it talk about this 90 day bullshit but rarely discuss the long term cases. It's setting people up for failure by convincing them they'll be over it in a few months.

I genuinely believe we are dealing with the equivalent of doing cocaine for half your life.

It may be that some people just cannot fully recover.

I think we will know a lot more once we start seeing people hitting 3 year streaks, if people get to 3 years and they still haven't healed I think it's safe to say permanent damage has been done.

It's really fucking annoying when people doubt that pmo can cause this much damage, they have no fucking idea.

I yeah man, PAWS are very real. I recognized myself to the point in Wikipedia description of Post-acute-withdrawal syndrome:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-acute-withdrawal_syndrome

Common symptoms of post-acute withdrawal syndrome are:[14][15][16][17]

The good thing is it's completely reversible: "The condition gradually improves over a period of time which can range from six months to several years in more severe cases."
So no worries, we'll feel just fine sooner or later.

  18. Yes i definetely know. This is just to say that even if had already been away from porn and masturbation for kinda 2 years i was still dependent from it and in the moment i lost every hope in recovery it took me over. No 19 months have been of continuosly paws symptoms and i relapsed only in the last 5 months maybe with pmo.

  19. You need to stop watching porn to recover completely mate absolutely no relapses whatsoever. There are biological changes we make to our brains once we become dependant on it. At 19 months I'm a lot better with no porn relapses whatsoever. I wish you the very best.
