"A man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed-seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.

Just as a gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it free from weeds, and growing the flowers and fruits which he requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind, weeding out all the wrong, useless, and impure thoughts, and cultivating toward perfection the flowers and fruits of right, useful, and pure thoughts. By pursuing this process, a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life. He also reveals, within himself, the laws of thought, and understands, with ever-increasing accuracy, how the thought-forces and mind elements operate in the shaping of his character, circumstances, and destiny."
-James Allen from the book 'As A Man Thinketh"

I am very passionate about self development; and so should you! No matter who you are or what you're looking to accomplish; looking back into your inward self will always be a vital place to discover and appreciate all present situations.

Socrates said, 'The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing."

Bitterly so, we will never know the intricacies of the universe and the only true source of discovery lies within our very selves. As beings of power, intelligence and love and masters of the universe we must look inward for discovery and purpose. For those who are religious, righteousness is inward discovery of God some call enlightenment; it cannot be found without; only within.

Failure is beautiful; unless observed through fear, doubt and anxiety. Within failure doors close with which we were not meant to walk. Failure builds character, it directs us and through suffering we learn truths. Failure is the only way to succeed. Also, failure is never, and cannot be, a destination for us. It is simply a learning and directing tool for us to succeed. The only difference between the successful persons and the unsuccessful persons is their perception of obstacles. Does it really inhibit you? If so, then you chose to stop progressive growth; you chose to allow your failure to stop you. It doesn't inhibit you unless you allow it to inhibit you. Granted, doors closing doesn't mean failure, it means a pivot is required.

The principle of rhythm is likened to the pendulum swing which the wring to the left is equal measured to the wring to the right; This principle controls the cycle of life and death, creation and destruction, rise and fall, and of course manifests in our mental states. When Bruce Lee discussed flowing like water; he is speaking of kung fu. Not the martial arts of kung fu but the flow and crash of being fluid with mastery of whichever art. Be fluid, like water and have rhythm and purpose in every step.

This post is a simple instruction to expand your mind, look inward, find the inner love within; stop looking for pleasure without. We all have down times, negative thoughts and struggles; there is no exception to this. Knowing that you can overcome, on your own, obstacles by right thinking, should be empowering enough to start now, everyday, to this practice. It gets easier, I promise.

Imagine yourself who you want to be, write down the list and be that person as much as you possibly can. You will feel uncomfortable at times; but change can be a fight. It's not a matter of talent or skills someone has but rather their perseverance and pertinacity with which they achieve mastery and success. We have to step in a new pair of shoes and do what is required to have those things which we truly want.

Les Brown suggests that the wealthiest place in the world isn't in goldmines, wall street or oil fields; he stated that the wealthiest place in the world is the grave yard. There you will find hopes and dreams not realized, books never written, goals which were given up on. Imagine yourself on your deathbed and the spirit of those possibilities came to you and said, "We came to you, and now we must die with you forever." There is a fire in our bellies which we must sometimes fan, feed and direct. Sometimes you won't feel it, other times it comes briefly. It is there.

Self development, in every way possible, begins first in the mind; and success is cultivation of right thinking - nearly every self development book first speaks of being in the correct state of mind before getting into the basis of their message. Thanks for reading!

The following are simply tools in which can be utilized for mastery:

Nofap is a tool of self discipline, harnessing power and creativity.
Cold showers is a tool to heighten circulation and awareness.
Fasting is a tool of self discipline, insulin manipulation and mental control.
Meditation is a tool practicing directing and calming one's mind.
Mentalism is applying knowledge, wisdom and choice to right thinking.
Diet eating correctly leads to a healthy and balanced life.
Active lifestyle is a tool for grounding, bloodflow and alertness.
Work and/or learning is a tool for progression and direction.
Feelings correctly guided are the basis of stability and attraction.
Laughter is a tool to ease tension and cultivate positive vibration.
These are what briefly comes to mind; feel free to add/edit...
