Effects of Porn

Imagine being that half of the population. The frustration I feel on a daily basis and for my young daughters is sometimes unbearable. Those men that do and rise up to take a stand are usually brow beaten by the usual sexually derogative terms like "pussy", "mangina" or "white knight". When you are a woman taking stand you are a "man hating feminazi".

It starts with us, right here, right now. Change starts with one person fighting the good fight. The fact that governments are not against pornography because of it's horrific social implications on society (backed up by hundreds of studies) is beyond me.

  2. I can't imagine. Being treated like a person whenever I engage someone in conversation is just too normal for me. I can't imagine what it's like for someone to ignore what I'm saying while fixating on my genitals. It's just strange to think about... but I know it happens to most women.

I agree. Government needs to take notice and enact legislation to tone things down. I don't think a straight ban would be effective (taking the war on drugs in America as my model) but at least it could prevent sexual violence from being portrayed.

I don't care what people call me... there is nothing unmanly about standing up for what is right. That's my firm belief anyways.

Thank you for your comments and for introducing such important topics, Limeaid.

Yes, I can't imagine what it is like to have random strangers come up to me to compliment me, buy me drinks and dinner, not to mention have "friends" who really only hang around because they are scared to go direct and are willing to futilely offer their resources to show what great mates they would make. Have governments, courts, schools, various organizations and media do everything they can to get me ahead of males. Yes, I can't imagine.

  4. Compassion is a very important part of being human. It is hard to live a joyful life without it.

  5. Bravo! I get so disheartened and frustrated with the state of inequality we live in. Every time I see another article about a school actively slut shaming its girl students with dress codes, because clearly it is the fault of women that men can not control themselves Grrr, or hardly slapping the wrists of boys who sexually assault girls on campus, It just makes me want scream. The shear strength it takes to be a lady in this day in age is staggering and it speaks very poorly of the men in office and government that they so easily turn a blind eye to the well-being of their daughters.

Also it disgusts me that compared to insults named after a man or a man's anatomy we have vastly more negative and insulting worlds that are all names for a woman's anatomy. And more over we hardly have any derogative titles for a man who is promiscuous while we have numerous titles with which to shame and abuse women for being sexual.

And by the way Immor, I truly hope that one day you come to understand just how foolish and uninformed your statement was.

And again I say Bravo! I am a strong supporter of feminism and yet sadly it is all to common for me to get shot own anytime I identify as a feminist or attempt to open a dialog about the need for equality. It is so hard to make any headway when tragically so many people are unwilling to consider looking at things from a different perspective.

However I try to hold hope for the future, Gay rights are slowly but finally coming into there own, and so perhaps we may come to see gender equality become a more open topic for discussion. Change starts in small ways as a spark in the hearts of those who dare to dream. Limeaid is right, by choosing to be apart of NoFap and educate our selves about the harm porn is doing to our culture and the problems that it has fueled we make a small change. Here is hoping that it grows into something that may make the world safer for our children and there children after them.

  6. Yes, language always reflects our prejudices. That's why for myself personally I try to avoid terms like "bitch" and "slut" and instead replace them with some of my own, I hope more truthful, prejudices like "CEO" and "politician".

People are slowly coming to realize that it is not okay to deny people the basic right of dignity. I'm personally excited with what's going on in the LGBTQ, indigenous rights, woman's rights and animal rights arenas. We still have a long way to go. But I have hope that we will get there, even if right now that hope seems ridiculously naive. Well, call me naive. That's a symptom of being a metamodernist, right? Informed naivete.

If anything the NoFap will reduce the desire for pornography, a significant sector in our society of the dehumanization of women that encompasses sexism. And that's regardless of whether the people engaged in the movement agree with the basic premises of woman's rights. Even that certain someone we all have in mind is helping women by not consuming pornography.

  7. That was Glorious. ^_^ I will have to remember that. Honestly it makes much more sense to sling an insult calling someone a politician then it does to call someone a Ladies Genitals. "You son of a CEO" hmm has a nice ring to it.

  8. Thank you Gentleman WD! :D I do have my brilliant moments.

I think its better to use the people actually out there making the world a worse place for our curse words than people who are just trying to live their lives.
