Today I got off work and was so tired. I wanted to get home and sleep, and I took a brief nap, but when I woke up, I hopped on Instagram, and long story short, I ran across a soft-core porn page. I did indulge a bit, but I felt okay with it and wasn't completely convicted. Nothing to make me start over. It did make me horny, though, and I did start edging. I've been edging on and off since I started over without PMO. I don't do it with joy, but it happens probably every other day and it gets really bad at night. Anyone have any advice on how to control edging? I don't know if I consider that "masturbating" or not, but I do know I want to stop.

I never heard the term "edging" before I can to this site but it was something I would do in the morning. Don't even start touching. As soon as any kind of stimulation is started its over for me at least. Even if I do it for a bit, the feeling seems to get "stuck" in my head. My problem isn't at night but in the morning, just get up and walk around a bit. Let your mind get off it.

I would stay off Instagram also, lots of crazy ladies there posting nude pics.

I have done it quite a lot. Overall edging to P (whether soft core or hard core) made my cravings much worse, ate into my productivity, and has always led me to O eventually, one way or another.

There is probably something to learn from that path. But if your goal is to recover from PMO and to learn to live without it, I think edging will make your life a lot harder (no pun intended :p).

  4. Orgasm control, also referred to as edging, peaking and surfing involves the maintenance of a high level of sexual arousal for an extended period of time without reaching orgasm and is referenced as "slow masturbation". In my opinion, I suggest that even stimulation which doesn't make you cum would still require a reset because you have engaged the dopamine reward system. Edging makes things worse. When I relapsed it was due to edging. There have been times when I have edged for hours and hours on end. When I used to PMO too much, it effected my sex life and erection strength (I PMO'd a lot), so I used to edge if I knew I was going to be having sex. It's pretty pointless. It always leads to orgasm in my experience, even if it takes 12 hours. It's like feeding the beast. It is really hard, but my own personal guidelines forbid all sexual touching, as I know this is a one way street for me. I touch myself, it feels good, I convince myself I'll just edge which progresses to edging to porn, which is truly frustrating! And inevitably ends in orgasm, in minutes, hours or days. I have been so frustrated and not wanted to come that I have edged all night before. Frustrating, leaves your lil fella tired and drained and you feeling unfulfilled. So I avoid it. Or try to.
