Edging to prevent relapse

    When an erotic thought comes into my head during the day I find it easy enough to just say STOP and think about something else. This is so much harder when in bed trying to fall asleep. I think this comes from force of habit and being so used to rubbing one out and falling asleep directly after. I've been on NoFap for 19 days now, and the 3 times that I have relapsed have been in this situation. I can't control my thoughts getting away from me. All it takes is 10 seconds of fantasizing and I'm fully aroused. Last night was horrible. I made the mistake of checking out a girl on facebook that I was really attracted to and could NOT get her out of my head. My usual technique of stopping and saying out loud what my goals were (1. job that I don't despise 2. independance from my parents, 3. make friends, 4. get a girlfriend and 5. lose my virginity), repeating to myself why I need to do this didn't work at all, but I was determined not to relapse again. So I pulled it out from under the sheets (so it wouldn't rub against anything) and played out the fantasy in my head and let it run its course. Even just fantasizing like that is so pleasurable. When I was done I poured cold water on my boner so it would go down. Soon after I realized how weak and vulnerable I am that some bimbo (she's a really hot girl with nothing in her head) can have such power over me. Next time should I just try to fight the thoughts harder or was this a good idea? I guess this would be considered as edging but I feel like its the only thing I could have done. Thoughts anyone?

    kill the thoughts before it came out, and never follow your thoughts.
    The tips I learnt is that: I can trust myself anytime, but in front of addiciton, my brain always lies.
    right in the urges, you have to clean up (kill) all your thoughts , no matter it's good or bad.
    Try to sleep early and wake up early would help you as well!

    The power of habit is just really strong. I'm relatively new to this so I hope it gets easier. If I go to bed early I'm restless and stay up and thoughts creep into my head and the more I resist the harder they come. The best success if had has been staying up watching videos or reading to keep my mind off it. But then its really late and it messes up my sleeping pattern. During the day I can control myself no problem but at night it's just ridiculous.

    Brother,donot edge ,it's the most addictive thing to do ...believe me I have been trying to get pass 28 day mark since last 2 yrs ,have relapsed around 50 times ...edging gives constant dopamine flow to brain nerves...a had reached to such levels of edging that I could edge for about 90 percent of my waking hrs for around 7 to 10 days ..without ejaculation..got rashes..on my equipment..shed skin many times...2 yrs of edging was far worse than my prior 13 yrs of fapping to porn ,literotica for about 3 times avg every day...start hard mode..donot see.anything lewd real or virtual...my senses had become so week that even hearing sweet female voice would start triggers...Meditate..cold shower..since 17th Jan 2017,i have quit drinking,weed,smoke..and reached 11 day into hard mode ...god help you all...

    It sounds to me like you were fantasising, not edging. Neither is a good idea, although edging would require a reset! :oops:

    Edging is extremely harmful and will show very real adverse effects if and when done enough. Remember that "enough" is relative and dependent on the individual. Keep doing that shit and you will go South fast.

  11. Yes edging is just as bad; all you do is stimulate yourself for no reason, perhaps even longer than you would when you would climax, therefore exhausting yourself just as much. The thing about PMO is, it's a stimulant, it's just as bad as street drugs. It's neurotoxic or close to it and sends your entire circuitry into overdrive. Never think edging is harmless. Avoiding it all together is the best thing you can do.

    I knew it was bad but not worse than. It stimulates but not nearly as much as going through with the act of MO. I would think a lot if not most of the energy is contained in the load itself. I don't know. Last night was ok though. In the past its been the 3 day mark that I've had the most trouble with and relapsed at. Now that thats over it, I'm confident it will be easier to control myself.

  14. You don't lose semen that's right but if you are addicted you are still getting that high although you don't climax. If you want to really heal for the most part you need to protect and resensitize your nervous system. Edging will prevent this because you are still stimulating all kinds of receptors in your nerves. Basically anything that makes your toes curl and tightens your butt cheeks is something you want to avoid, that means edging.

    Thanks for that article I understand a lot more now. It makes so much sense how I got to be in this situation in the first place. More motivated than ever to kick this habit and take control of myself and start moving on with my life. Thanks for the support!

    I don't like Orgasm and I really don't like how I feel after Orgasm and I think that got me into doing edging. Also I figured it was unhealthy to orgasm all the time.

    From my own experience, I would say an hour wanking without orgasm is better than an hour with it. Although I could be very wrong and that edging has pernicious physical effects that I'm not fully aware of? However, regardless it's rarely ever an hour. While full wank sessions can go on for a long time as well, edging tends to go on for a much longer time and I can end up spending an entire day and night in front of the PC, and have found that even though it makes me feel bad just blowing my load will get it over with quickly and save me the suffering of a prolonged edge session.


    I have noticed recently that likely do to edging that after edging for an hour when I do go to orgasm I have an orgasm in the brain, but either no ejaculate comes out or only a small amount tribbles out. In contrast awhile back I had a wet dream awhile aback and the load was huge [ due to not wanking for an extended period] also if I just go straight to an orgasm instead of edging the load is large. Another oddity is that the time to reach orgasm again is about the same as though I had ejaculated fully even though nothing or very little came out. Meaning if I dropped a large load [ while I might be more exhausted] the time to reach climax again is the same. Just something that has had me wondering.

    I learned the hard way that edging is a slip and it is VERY easy to edge too far. Every time you edge you should reset your counter as it is masturbation.

    Ok so you can take this or leave this but I am telling you based on experience that with time, and by time I mean a variable amount that cant be predetermined, you can have victory at night before bed. This is the method I used, I have been using and will continue to use. This method help me QUIT SMOKING WITHOUT ME REALIZING IT. I did this method for about a month and one day I looked at an almost full pack of cigarettes in the car door panel that had become stale and I realized I had quit smoking! And I had done so without intentionally planning to quit! At that point I did not think I had the strength to quit so I didn't even attempt to intend to do so!
    So the method I used... hear me out man please I say this in truth with your best intention in mind, coming from a someone who empathizes with your plight. I read the bible. I'm not asking you or telling you or suggesting that you believe anything or change who you are. But I highly recommend this to you and everyone else on this site. Read before bed. And even better, read the bible. It has a washing effect; I would bet everything I own on it. If it doesn't help you, I'll give you my address and you can come punch me in the throat and take everything I own.
    YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND HAVE MORE POTENTIAL THAN YOU KNOW. DISCOMFORT IS OKAY - IT IS NOT YOUR ENEMY. FACE IT, EMBRACE IT. THIS TOO SHALL PASS. BUT YOU WON'T. YOUR TRIALS SHALL PASS, BUT YOUR VICTORIES REMAIN! And I mean that literally... the effects of victory actually do remain... and they snowball... and you become more of who you already have the potential to be. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT.
