Dropping 9GAG ?

If you are serious about kicking this habit , deleting an app seems like a small price to pay. Just saying. Sorry. Just focus yourself and work towards the goal you are trying to get to.

It is amazing what your own brain will try to convince you when you are addicted to something. I never thought I was addicted to porn until I have tried to stop. I found myself the other day on youtube and ended up searching for hot women. My brain told me this was alright because it wasn't porn but it was still a set back. My suggestion is delete the app because you are addicted to it. Kind regards

 

You don't have to stop using it, just like you don't have to quit fapping.

 

I guess its fine as long as you don't focus on the NSFW stuff

 

actually i quit 9gag because of the pornographic material but that was before discovering nofap. Now i am able to browse through without being tempted to PMO. So it all depends on your mindset.
I would advise you to delete the app but as soon as you feel you have sufficient amount of self-control not to relapse due to 9gag, there isn't any problem as to why you shouldn't be using it.

You can always turn off showing NSFW images in settings.

 

I pretty much stopped getting on 9gag because even some of the non NSFW pictures were getting to me. In a word, yoga pants.

Anyways, I'd suggest cutting it off for a while. Being on 9gag is a horrible use of time anyways.

 

Deleting 9gag might also have the added benefit of helping you avoid procrastination (If you procrastinate a lot) thus freeing yourself up for more productive activities.

 

I've been spending time on 9gag... too much time.

From my own experience, it has been a total waste of time.

Let me tell you what 9gag really is:

- Hidden pornography: pictures of half-naked girls & objectification of girls (try to visit 2 or 3 times the comment section, you'll make your opinion by yourself). In addition, I've seen quite a lot of comments/post making the apology of porn/masturbation

- Intollerance for minorities: homosexuals, women, ethnicities, religions, ...

- Racism: No need to say you better not be a Mexican (= cleaning the streets), German (= nazi), Irish (= Stupid drunk), American (= fat stupid war-lover), French (=Coward), Pakistani (= Terrorist), ...

- Violence

The posts I can't sort in those four categories includes: false information, video games (which often happen to be violent), images of cats/dogs, stories nobody cares about and stupid advices.

There's so much great things you can do in real life, why would you waste your time in front of a screen?

 

Congrats for doing what it takes to succeed, no matter how small it may be!

 

I'm a huge 9gag fan, spending a lot of time.
I have not deleted the app, since 9gag is some kind of a hobby for me. I even have the nsfw filters turned off, because there has never been anything nsfw that triggered me, it was just funny.

Btw: I don't think 9gag is intolerant, but it often plays with cliches.
Sadly, there is a lot of anti-muslim-atmosphere on 9gag.

 

I stay away from any social media that has images as part of it. Text-only is the way to go! It has been a sacrifice, but really just a small one in the grand scheme of things.
