I started my 120 d nofap journey to fully reset my dopamine receptors. After I realized the stupidest move was to start the nofap and continue eating sweets, watching a lot of movies (I watched every day as I did my physio restoration routine which is long boring and painful, nevermind), and listening to music.
Watching movies everyday made it a bit of a habit. For like 8 months.
Listening to music very often is a hell of a habit. And its ancient, unlike moves due to training it's ancient. There were periods of my life when I didnt really listen to music almost at all. Sweets.. Kinda same as music
I feel that im not really addicted to movies. (didnt watch any for a week)
I want sugar (Sugar free like a week as well)
I realized about the music today.
Now here's a deal. My nofap ends at 22 June. And it is summer so I want to enjoy this time. Academic year in college is a pretty grimm period for me.
I need my dopamine receptors restored (relatively fully).
I figured that sugar, movies and music drugs are not as strong as masturbating and if I quit listening to music today I will restore the receptors to 22 June. Am I wrong ? I mean, we need science here. Please answer only if you are backed up scientifically.
And in case you ask. Yes, sugar and music are drugs if taken regularly (I mean, almost everyone if he eats sweets, takes them more then regularly and listens to music every time too.)

What's wrong with listening to music? Or watching films? It's like anything as long as it doesn't interfere with your normal lifestyle then do what you like doing (just not fapping). If you're really struggling as I do sometimes you could try a dopamine supplement like L-dopa, it really helps with fighting the urge to relapse. Kind of like nictonie replacement but with added benefits.

I don't struggle with dopamine. The point is, I watched movies every day (although I did physio at the same time), and every action that gives you dopamine if sone regularly for like 30 days gives you an addiction (dopamine receptor damage) which is treated 90-120 - that what is written on the internet. And I just wonder could it be less if the addiction itself is not realy heavy like with masturbation. Although I have to admit sugar is heavier than music and definetely movies.
And music, I too, listen regularly. In any road to college/back, at home...

Ok sugar either way is bad. But i dont think anyone should have any problems listening to music. Anyways music feels better then PMO. Id rather listen to music, It motivates me.

Ok i dont game, drink alcohol, smoke, smoke weed or drink caffeine. What would be considered social media? Is YouTube social media? How do you limit your internet/electronic devices? Do you set a limit of how much you can stay on? I limit myself to maximum 1 hour of YouTube a day.

that doesn't change the fact that its a habit. Consecutive dopamine-filling action

well, it does release dopamine - but exactly - it isnt much. I dont really know if habit principle and dopamine receptors are directly connected but thats what I think... That is the point of my question. If its a habit, even if its not a strong addiction. how bad are your dopamine receptors and can they be revived less then it takes to recover from real addiction (90-120 days) ?

no, it fixes the dopamine receptors. They fix over time when they dont get bombarded by excessive dopamine

Maybe try to replace the things you were labeling habitual with active/productive things. Instead of listening to music, make it. Instead of eating snacks, learn new recipes.

You do need leisure time though. That's why I'd say watching an hour of YouTube or chilling to some music daily is great!

The notifications from nofap and addictive. I always check for them and when i do have them i feel better. This is how social media released dopamine some of the time.
