    Hi Guys,

    Just out of interest,

Sometimes I see phrases and words that people use in their discussions that can be slightly triggering at times, words that you find on porn sites. Even the word "sex" sometimes can be a little overwhelming.

I understanding naturally these words are going to be used as they are on both platforms.

Not nocking nofap at all I think its brilliant !

I understand what you're saying. Sometimes, I come across triggering content on this site as well.

A lot of people will tell you that "you need to avoid triggers during your recovery". I think that would be good advice... if it were possible...

The fact of the matter is that triggers are everywhere, and you'll never be able to completely avoid them. People are going to talk about sex no matter where you are (online or otherwise) because it's a huge part of being human. Hell, even if you don't interact with anyone, you'll still end up seeing sexually-charged content in advertisements, video games, magazines, newspapers, books, tv shows, and movies.

Rather than trying to do the impossible and avoid triggers altogether, my advice is to come up with a game plan for whenever you encounter a trigger. First, you need to identify what your triggers are. If seeing the word "sex" is triggering for you, that's perfectly okay. Try to come up with a list of all of your triggers (writing them down might be a useful exercise). Once you know what they are, make a plan for what you're going to do whenever you encounter one of them. Here's a breakdown of my plan for when I come up with triggers:
    1. Can I go outside for a walk? If not:
    2. Can I practice music, art, or work on a personal project? If not:
    3. Can I write in my journal? If not:
    4. Can I make a post on NoFap? If not:
    5. I can close my eyes, take ten deep breaths, and focus on each breath.
Come up with your own plan for dealing with triggers. If you do, you'll eventually find out that they're not such a big deal anymore.

  3. I think to much time on this website can be a bad thing because of what is in it,lots of potential triggering things and when you are on here chances are it will make you think of porn.

  4. Well I mean, sex and porn is pretty mainstream today so there's definitely no escaping seeing those words every now and then.

It's not that bad unless you're so easily aroosed.

  7. For many, early in in this battle the world is over flowing with triggering content. As you start to heal so much will affect you less than it does today.
It's sad state we have gotten ourselves into but you can get past it.

I understand what your saying . I don't get triggered by the words on this site but I do from the attractive females I walk by . . . I'm working through it . . .
