Alright, so a quick lesson; lucid dreams are when you become aware that your dreaming. You have total control over your dreamscape, situations, and people/objects in them. The sensations, even if you've never experienced them, are very realistic.

Most people experience them a few times in their life, but some people train themselves to have them more constantly. There's even certain devises and books made to assist in the practice.

Lucid dreams have the benefit of not only training and learning in your dreams like some artists and performers do, but of course experiencing events and sensations with no repercussions or victims.

So here's the golden questions: Does lucid dreams count as messing up? There's no victims, and it's all in your mind, but is it just as bad as anything else? How would you fell if you took advantage of it?

I say yes in most situations, and I would probably feel a little bad, but I want to see what everyone else thinks.

I’m a lucid dreamer and I have them regularly. It’s said that the more self awareness you have the more lucid dreams and control you have in them. I am not a PA but I know my experiences with them. I truly believe that dreaming is the self conscious coming through, a way to deal with fears, anxiety and all sorts of possibilities that we don’t necessarily pay attention to in waking life.

I feel that in a lucid dream it would be about intent, if you are conscious of any indulging in a lucid dream (especially in my level of experience with this), it’s would be no different from day dreaming/fantasies.
It can take a long time to understand lucid dreaming and navigate or truly control them.
I am also a conscious dreamer but it doesn’t mean I’m lucid dreaming, it’s more like watching a movie in my head and I can’t change the channel. I don’t have control over those and the only thing I can do sometimes is wake myself up, bring myself out of REM sleep if I really don’t like it like a nightmare.
No one has control over those, you can’t hold yourself accountable to them.
I find this an awesome topic as a lot of people don’t understand LD.

  3. Absolutely my opinion. I am a *very* good lucid dreamer (not so much at the moment, though :)), and in that state, your will is law.
    Kinda like porn, huh...

A dream you have no control over, absolutely not your fault. But to invent a world or situation and act out fantasies inside it deliberately... in my opinion, no different from PMO. Especially because you can change the channel any time you want.

Hmm, that's an interesting way of viewing it. I mean, it's not a mess up when a person fantasizes If so, we'd wouldn't make it past an hour!
But yet again as pointed out, freewill comes into the picture. And when things can appear that's never been seen or experienced, what makes it different than a computer?

I am a lucid dreamer. Not practicing it for a long time now, but still get lucid dreams pretty often, unintentionally.

Yes. I assume you're talking about having sex or other erotic experiences during a dream.

When it comes to lucid dreams with sexual content, I feel especially gross about myself, because it's like I actually made all those nasty fetishes real. Thankfully, my sexual dreams are very short, I always wake up because I am too excited, in a bad way.

There is always at least one victim, me. I hurt myself by diving deeper in this tarpit.

  6. Again, just my opinion here, but the reason I take such a draconian view on it, is because I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone trying to do a reboot.

When I lucid dream, the brain is firing electrical pulses. All the neurons are travelling down the synapses that make my body and mind "see" and "believe" they're in that situation. If I dream myself into being a racing driver, I'm feeling like, for all intents and purposes, my perception of a racing driver (I'm not one IRL! ;)). In my mind, I AM a racing driver.

If I dream myself into a state of an erotic fantasy, all the neurons are travelling down the same pathways as they would when I watch porn, although this time it would be super stimulating, because I could fantasize EXACTLY.

Now, I totally agree with you - no other person has been harmed, no woman stripped off for a camera, no one else saw it. But I've been harmed, because my brain has had the pathways into erotic fantasy etched by the neurons still further. I'll wake up feeling bad. And I don't have a good reason for it, because I had full control over the dream.

Yeah, we've all got free will. But misusing free will is bad. That's what got us all on this site in the first place.

I was thinking in terms of Psubs for the reboot. For my hubby and many others on here that they are working towards giving up that side as well, especially while in a relationship. I should have elaborated further on that thought. If psubs and fantasy aren’t part of the personal reboot then I wouldn’t figure it that way.

You are correct. In fact, with all those stimulations at once, I wonder if it's even more brain damaging than porn itself.

Messing up what? You mean the PA recovery? If yes then answer is oh yeah.

If it is a p like dream without any if your intent/control/navigation it still messes PA recovery (of brain). But you could choose not to reset your PMO counter. But learn whether you could have avoided that dream by avoiding anything (thoughts?) during the day or before going to bed.

I am a lucid dreamer, much less lately. In my entire life I had only handful of sexual dreams though. And half of them had my SO in it.

During my reboot I had two P like dreams and immediately woke up and avoided them.
