Is being depressed and having suicidal thoughts common in porn addiction? Sometimes I feel like to end all of this. Depressed feelings are constantly with me.

You wanna hear something you already know ? Life is not great... but being alive is. Life is full with ups and downs. People don't start their day with happiness. Maybe one day or the second but not always there are tough days for all of us. It's okay to feel despaired and weak. But its not okay to give up. It's not okay to accept your defeat. Never ever give up. Rather die trying than giving up. I can give you one little task that will make everyday a little better... Take a picture of the beautiful things in life. If its coffe then its coffe. If its a flower or the blue sky. Or the sunsetting. If its a dog or whatever. Take a photo everytime you see it. Also there is no one solution in life that can fix everything. Step by step. Slowly... Fear and stress will never help you out never. They will make you emotional unstable and lead to wrong and dumb decisions. Listen.... you maybe think you need a hero... and that is right... but that Hero can't be anyone else than you. There in your heart fighting against your demons you are fighting on your own. Yes alone but where you gain your power is not only your own heart. Because we are believing in you. Your younger-self is believing in you. Hang on in there, brother. Our Hope is one. Your fight is our fight. One for All. All for One. I found so many new people who believe in me. And I believe in them. I want you to be one of those people :)

If there is no Hero in sight, unleash the Hero inside!

    We are here!

I also felt a lot of sadness and depression all day in the first few weeks of no PMO. The fact is, PMO gives you a quick and fleeting escape, whereas no PMO cuts off that line of retreat: it's not a bug it's a feature. A lot of the depression will be from withdrawal, and other depression will be stuff that's beginning to bubble up now that you're getting clear again. Know that this is not permanent and will begin to phase out both naturally and as your work your way towards self-improvement.
You're still allowing O, so maybe you currently have a wife or a girlfriend who should be involved?

Hey man, if you're feeling suicidal, please call a suicide hotline.
Other than that, go talk to a close friend or relative, or seek professional help. Yes, feeling depressed is common, but don't leave it at that. Fight it.

Hey man I feel you. First, don't do anything stupid. I've been suffering from depression for nearly 2 decades. I know how it feels to be in the dark place where everything loses meaning. That being said, you need to get yourself out of your comfort zone ASAP. I know it sounds contra intuitive, but you really need to take some drastic actions to "snap out" of suicidal thinking. I first went to a shrink, tried several medications, did psychoanalysis therapy, nothing worked. I felt numb and dead inside, not caring if I die. I was on a passive suicidal path, driving like maniac, drinking un every party until I passed out, really not caring if I get killed in a process. Thank god I always managed to avoid accident. With all the close calls on the road it is a miracle I'm still here. What helped me were mountain hikes. Vigorous uphill walking in beautiful unspoiled surroundings somehow slowly filled the void in my soul. I also started taking paragliding lessons and ironically when it was time to take off of 9.000 feet high mountain, I was scared shitless for my life. Survival instinct kicked in when thought crossed my mind that I might be dead in a few moments if I FU. I realized at that moment, that I'm not suicidal anymore as I actually wanted to stay alive. I'm not saying you should do the same things as I did, just that you should make some drastic changes in your life and find a goal YOU find worth pursuing. One thing I'm certain, utter void in our souls doesn't come just from chemical imbalances in our brains.

Masturbation will rob you of serotonin, nature's own anti-depressant. This is why porn addicts are confronted with eating disorders, ocd, depression, anxiety and the likes at some point in their addictions, or when they have to withdraw. The number one mental health risk associated with masturbation and porn addiction is setting up the nervous system to be driven by dopamine, serotonin levels and its receptors are basically annihilated as the addiction gets worse and worse and worse. Eating disorders and (h)ocd are common in the early stages, depression and anxiety are seen in advanced dopamine addiction. This is why porn addiction is as much of a problem as any other drug addiction. Real dependency issues are involved here. Porn can shut off the brain's frontal lobes and even cause degeneration in grey matter tissue and it's absolutely scary to think kids as young as 12 years old are watching it on a daily basis. Porn and masturbation will rob you of your vitality and zest for life sooner or later and it's more clinical than one would suspect. Dopamine dependency, loss of serotonin and vitamins is what's driving your depression.
Exercise, clean diet, hydration, exposure to sunlight, being in nature, early bedtime, are all good steps you can take towards raising your levels of healthy neurotransmitters like gaba and serotonin. Furthermore you should absolutely cut out the porn habit, and decrease exposure to wireless radiation. Some proteins and sugars in foods like fructans and gluten are notorious for causing depression. Inflammation is another driving factor and as porn will slow your metabolism this often seems to be a correlation.
Lastly, don't be afraid to talk to a doctor and take medications if you really do have a type of (withdrawal induced) clinical depression. You may have to take these for a while until your brain finds a new balance and learns to go on without the habit.

Hey man I'm about to go to a therapist and what we're going to talk about is whether I should take anti-depressents. Would you say it was still worth it to get on your meds? I'm afraid when the time comes that I'll get off my meds that I will feel worse than ever. I don't know if it is worth it or not. What's your take?
