Dealing with resets.

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Fractured Mindset, Jun 21, 2019.

  1. a few weeks after I began my no masturbation run, I accidentally found fine art nude photography that spiked my interest. I was told right after my 30 day mark that this was a reset. Now- my main strategy is to not seek it out, but there are times where I'll take a look for whatever reason but back out whenever I start to feel something building up. Also, some weird technique that actually works for me is downloading certain triggering images, and putting them in my inspirations folder I mostly forget exists. This may sound bad, but there's also some fine art nude stuff from two years ago that doesn't trigger me in the slightest. I don't know if this is something I should be doing or not.

Also, I did have escalation problems with my porn addiction, but the fine art stuff helped clear those flashbacks out. But now that I'm clearing the fine art nude stuff out, the escalation flashbacks are returning. I could use some advice on this front as well.

I'd like to plan out my next step as soon as possible/ possibly start executing it early if possible.

Well if you accidentally stumbled upon them i wouldn't consider it a relapse. It can happen and it's a good thing not to become too much paranoid about it, it helps living the reboot with much more power and less stress which leads to real relapses eventually. Either way, considering your porn addiction i wouldn't consciously take a look at those pics even if they don't trigger you anymore cause you're home alone, in the middle of a 35 days streak and curiosity can always play you tricks! Don't let your guard down! Stay focused and instead of the fine art nude photography go for a walk and... i don't know if it's a good advice but i mean you can't avoid them, right? look at the girls outside which is fine but avoid artificial stuff.

  3. I don't consider it a failure, but more a delay. Right now, I would only consider returning to any porn or masturbating a failure.

Also, there's hardly any girls for me to look at right now.
My workplace is mostly male, and most of the women there are at least twice my age, and I'm barely breaking 20 hours a week as it is.

And when I do get out (when it's not cloudy, rainy or lawnmowing day), most females I see are either married [ie with another man], older, or minors. So right now I don't have much to check off the acceptable looking list until I get back to school.

Well it's all about finding our balance so if you feel ok like that, that's fine.
Time will point you in the right direction.
For now you have to wait until these withdrawal symptoms will leave you, get through this phase keeping yourself busy or meditating (the one that suits best for you).
I mean if you think you can control it, i mean the nude art photography thing i don't know do that but i think you should avoid it cause there's addiction behind it... when you don't look at them you start having flashbacks so you are not being completely free until you quit on them too. No excuses. It's like quitting smoking but vaping all day long...
