I'm Very sorry that happened to you Snow White.

Religion however was not the problem, abuse of position in religious office was. Corrupt clergy are betrayers of religion, using the priesthood in such a way is blasphemous and satanic.

I vary much hope you find healing.

Hey Catholic guys. Glad I found this thread!
Quick intro: Age 21. Catholic schools K-12, now in Catholic college in New York.
Parents not religious but never hindered me. Two twin brothers, age 16, Catholic school too. We all play(ed) baseball and wrestled. I play ball for college.
Self-educated in the Faith and I would call myself faithful and orthodox. Mass at least weekly, prayer and spiritual reading daily, and I belong to a men's group at the parish.
Now for the rest of the story. I didn't discover MO until I was taking a bath, age 15. Got hooked right away. I thought it was adrenalin! Then as a junior, the boys had a convocation in the gym. A visiting priest gave us "the talk." When I found out that it was called masturbation and that it was mortal sin, my years of conflict began. Even though I got good grades and was decent with sports, I was/am private and shy. So I didn't hang out much or shoot the bull with the other boys, and assumed I was the only one with the habit, which grew to include pornography.
Fast forward: hundreds of relapses and retries. Crying myself to sleep after "sessions." Missed Communions; uncountable Confessions. The only ones that were not helpful were the ones where the priests told me "not to worry about it."
Finally, over a year ago I stopped for the thousandth time, sincerely, though assuming I might make it 3-4 days max. Three days stretched to a week then a month, and now to 365+ days. I solemnly assure you I had zero to do with it. I think God just got tired of my whining and simply moved in. All glory to Him.
And, with His continuing grace, my next orgasm will be on my wedding night (nowhere in sight yet). BTW, I don't believe wet dreams break the streak.
Over and out for now, guys. Praying for you.
    God bless you richly. Mike

    Hello All,

Thanks for creating a thread like this. I've found this website to be incredibly helpful, and all the folk (religious or not) have been great. However it's also great to have a place to talk about faith. I'm 36 married and have been struggling with PMO since grade school. Confession has been my original "reboots" but I always fell short of the community and accountability piece of the puzzle so it was easy to fall back into bad habits. I am hoping nofap can assist with that. I think one of the biggest ways PMO continues to effect me is that it's hard to share my faith as much as I would like. I love being Catholic, but I feel like a hypocrite because of my struggles with PMO. I know in my head that our sins are what Jesus died for, but that distance between the heart and head can be miles (if you know what I mean). PMO is the chink in my armor that the devil knows how to exploit.

Praying for you all, thanks again for this!

There isn't a non-hypocrite out there. That's why we're all here supporting each other. Welcome to you, and to @louispian as well.

    Hi everyone,

I've stopped coming to this thread for a while, which I think is a little sad. I shall endeavor to post more over here and not just in my journal.

Anyway, I've been about PMO free for 33 days. I say about because I have a continual struggle with P. It hasn't been easy to keep off it recently - I would put the blame on stress, because I'm graduating from college and entering into working life now, and I'm still hunting for the "right" job, and it's got me pretty worked up. P has always been my go-to stress-relief/escape, and of course MO would follow, but I've been keeping off the MO and just peeking at P recently. Which makes me feel shitty after anyway. Still trying to work out what works best for me as a replacement stress reliever.

The struggles against peeking at P has intensified recently, and I'm trying my best to hold it off, although every few days I'm caving. Don't peek long, but still, it's killing me. But I'm gonna keep trying to fight back.

Anyway, hope everyone's doing well. Will pray for you all, and if I may, I'd ask for your prayers for me as well. Thanks.

Definitely, buddy --prayers on the way.

Why do any of us to things we know for certain will make us feel like a turd afterwards? When I was deep into PMO, I remember the crap feeling coming over me even before I stopped ejaculating!

As I see it, it's helpful to examine your motivations for nofap and no P every morning. In addition, "fantasize" how your day will feel at bedtime if you did not give in to P that day. Take it a step more-- imagine the kind of man you will be after you have successfully battled the P enemy for an extended time.

Both our Lord and the Blessed Mother have an ideal Peregrinnus in their minds. You know it does not include P, M, or O outside of holy marriage (wet dreams don't count). And that ideal is not just good for some guy in the future. It's for right here and right now, even in the thick of your frustrations, worries, fears, boredom, doubts, and hopelessness. Neither Jesus nor Mary suffered such extreme earthly torment, and merit infinite graces, just to hoard them from their children. Ask, beg for them. And show yourself ready to receive them by standing brave and pure.

Reboot (as many times as necessary).Use the guts you have been given just by being a Man, and use the power (grace) that continually flows from Above and has your name on it.

Thanks for the prayers too, brother. Stay with us, we need your support.

    Peace. Mike

    @peregrinnus , aren't we all? :)

I don't know if you saw that link I shared, from Tony Litster, but he argues that PMO is basically just our go-to stress reliever more than anything else. So to quit PMO, you need a non-sexual stress reliever. No stress = no worries about libido, although libido is still high = no worries about relapse = no stress/relapse cycle. I don't have such a behavior myself yet, but it sounds like a sound theory.

    P.S. @mikepian , have you already rebooted?

    Hey, headed up.
I rebooted tons of times, right up till spring 2014.
That's when I stopped PMO, MO, and O.
Have been clean and pure since then.
To tell you the truth, I can't figure out how to get the Goal bars added to my posts. Brain freeze!
But my current goal is to stay free of all P, M, O, and any other sexual behavior before marriage. I have, thank God, over a year of being clean, so my goal is to add on another year.

    Peace. Mike

@headedup - thanks for posting the MP3s, I listened to them all and found them helpful without being too technical and with a Christian perspective

    Cool, Yg.

I once heard that a future pope or saint, when he was a teenager, always went to bed with his rosary wrapped around his hand.

    An ounce of prevention....

Sorry, HU, for my delay in responding, but I lost track of this thread for a while.

As for any advice--as you have found, there are a lot of threads here with really helpful suggestions.

What I can tell you has been totally by our Lord's grace for me. This is the spiritual way I try to live.

Quick background: My parents were not practicing, but they sent my little bros and me to the Catholic elementary and high schools my dad attended. For some reason, I really took to my religion classes in both schools. I think I got real solid instruction in the faith and morals. I rarely missed Sunday Mass and took my brothers with me. Same thing for monthly Confession.

When I was in high school, we got a new pastor. I believe he is very holy and good. Besides going to him for Confession and being an altar boy, I started asking him questions and eventually we got into a regular pattern of meeting. Father got me started on a really interesting reading program. I was a fast reader and we discussed the books. I also kept seeking his help to break my PMO. I sure felt like a hypocrite.

Then I chose a traditional Catholic college with heavy emphasis on reading and seminars. I love that approach. I'm majoring in philosophy and psychology.

I do a lot of side reading too, lot of it on the Faith.

While in college, I have come to love Adoration. Being introvert, I appreciate the quiet time. We also have daily Mass.

When I go home on breaks and vacations, I check in with my pastor.

Every day I kneel down after I get up and surrender myself and my day to the Lord and tell Him I am ready to do anything He wants. I try to remember and talk to Him casually during the day. I read the Bible, esp. the Psalms. When I go to bed, I kneel down and ask Jesus to show me how I hurt Him or messed up during the day and tell Him I'm sorry. And I pray to stay pure that night, just like I do in the a.m. Also, I belong to the Angelic Warfare Confraternity (please google it), so that helps.

Well, those are the religious practices I follow and I KNOW they help me be clean.

I hope some of this might be a help, guys.

    Peace. Mike
