Been fapping everyday for 12 years

This website is incredible, thank you everyone for spreading awareness!

My fapping career started when I was around 13-14, didn't think much of it, thought it was a good thing to do to past time, I use to go on community webcam interaction websites and me and girls use to do things on cam. Then it got to porn, and it's been a constant 1-2x everyday thing for me for the past 12 years.

I seen myself getting into weird things with porn, different fetishes, something that you wouldn't go up to a girl that has the same basic interests with you but not sexually at all, in honest, about probably 13% of the population of women in the world share my same sexual fantasies.

I feel like this 90 day reboot (according to the reboot page) will help factory reset my brain and hopefully give me a better sex life, relieve my social anxiety and boost my confidence, cause right now, I have social anxiety, low self esteem and confidence, and a PIED (as I think)

So would like to follow up as much as possible and wish everyone the best of luck of their goals as well!

Welcome! Yes a 90 day reboot will do wonders for you if you have been fapping that long. It will be incredibly hard though. I have been trying to do 90 days since February.

    Thanks everyone,

I truly believe this is just like any other addiction, I'm going to use the 12 steps (especially the first 3) to adapt, overcome, and kick the habit, just like smoking, I get an urge, but that urge is going to not last long, unless I keep thinking about it, and that's when I need to distract my mind. I know every successful attempt that I'm able to overcome the urge, the easier the following urges will be. I need to remember this doesn't mean I'm not going to ejaculate for the rest of my life, I believe this will help me want to find a partner in life, and from what I read on the reboot page that this can possibly improve my overall mental health, which is great, because I believe the reason I suffer from social anxiety, self-confidence, and self-esteem was mainly from this addiction.

So for the first week I'm going to plan my days out, pick up a book, work with DBT/CBT skills, and get back in the gym.
Also stay off Facebook as much as possible, I have girls on there that are my friends but some posts..idk, could be triggering for this early abstinence. Willpower! If you really want something in life, like the law of attraction, it will happen, if you fight for it everyday.

Social media really isn't the problem... The problem comes in the form of seeking out those types of posts as a means of gratification. Even if a particular post "triggers" something in you, this whole process is about self discipline. It's about setting healthy limits and adapting the way we think about things... No matter how hard we attempt to isolate ourselves we're going to hit road blocks along the way, the sooner we start adapting through this process the better.

Although I'm still new to this process, I'm finding this particular way of thinking is the best when it's come to NoFap/PMO.

  7. Welcome to NoFap @Travcat
    It
is a big step if you can understand what is triggering your urges, because this will allow you to be awake and kill those urges as soon as they appear.

I recommend you to create your own "Emergency Toolbox" with readings that can be handy to read when you start feeling urges to screw up.
I can share this post with you with my own Emergency Toolbox, it helped me a lot during the first few months, i had them in my cell and read them every time I started falling down:

I wrote some tips in this post that perhaps will help you too:

You can watch some interesting videos which are also very helpful in this post:

I also suggest you to read "Breaking the Cycle" by George Collins, it is a must-read if you are serious about getting rid of this addiction.
To get more focus and feel happier with life I recommend you to start doing meditation.. I have been using an App called Headspace for the last two months which is great if you have never meditated before. The first 10 sessions are free if you want to give a try. I used to feel a bit depressed or feeling without energy to start new projects in my life, and meditation has helped me a lot with this.

Last but not least, I would strongly recommend you to take the NoFap Academy course if you can afford it. The course is great but the best value are the weekly video calls with @alexander (the creator of NoFap and NoFap Academy) and Mark Queppet, where you can chat with them in real life and listen to other guys's stories and problems too.

I hope that all this helps you to fight this shitty addiction.
    Let's keep on fighting
