Quit drinking January 1, had a bit of trouble sleeping the first few nights but as the month worse on I started to feel worse. Now 5 weeks in I've hardly slept the last week and a bit and I feel lethargic and unmotivated.

If this happens with no porn/fap too, screw that - not going through this twice!!

What you are feeling now are phases of quitting an addiction. Your brain is demanding you for more alcohol or beer since you probably had a bad addiction to it and hence have trouble trying to quit it. But like I said, its a phase in quitting. It will get past soon and you feel the real benefits of quitting drinking.

Now to your question, I would say quitting porn is almost as hard as quitting weed smoking and drug abuse, if not harder. With the fast-speed internet these days, porn is easily accessible, even more so than drugs are. So the chances of relapsing are really really high. That's why a lot of people give up quitting porn before they even start. Your brain will crave for that dopamine almost so much as craving for drugs. So quitting porn is not something you can just casually say and expect yourself to automatically know how to quit it. HOWEVER, quitting porn brings A LOT OF BENEFITS, mostly for your mental health.

If you are still pondering about whether you should try quitting porn, I would say try for 30days and feel the benefits. Then you can decide again. Personally, I'm only on day 14, after relapsing about 7 times over 2 months. But the difference about this attempt is that I have joined this amazing forum. I have gotten a lot of support and now I really don't feel like relapsing because no matter how much I think about it, its just not worth it.

I hope you can make your decision wisely, as this may change your life for the better.

    God bless~

...I have never used drugs outside of alcohol and sometimes I smoke cigars, but never smoked or taken any form of narcotic so I have no clue what it's like to quit them

Porn is a drug. A really harmful as well as an addictive one. You can compare it to quitting drinking and smoking: I haven't drink and smoked in my whole life, but porn is at least as addictive, or even more than drinking and smoking. Porn addiction will eventually lead as well to drinking and smoking, that's for sure.

I am sorry, but exactly what happened to you when you stopped drinking may happen do you when you stop watching porn. You will go through a flatline where you have no motivation, no libido.

Whatever you decide to do, you and only you are your own master. You are responsible for you actions. I, and probably most of the lads and lasses here can you suggest you to start quitting Porn, whatever the cost maybe.

Ultimately, it is up to you. I wish the best to you anyways!
