To add to this, @ultrafabber you behave in a manner as if you're the only person in this thread with a scientific background. I'm a medical student and one of the first things we're taught is that "biology is the science of exceptions".

Idk if they water down the complexity for psychology students, but doctors are trained to understand that the human body is a dynamic entity. There is malleability and adaptability at every step of evolution, functionality and behaviour.

Many readers may not understand what I'm gonna type below because it's a technical argument, but if you find yourself to belong to that crowd, then I'm afraid your position as a "clinical psychologist" has no real bearing on your advice:

The studies you have posted link factor A (homosexuality) to factor B (sexual and mental abuse) and produce a statistical correlation between them, not a biological correlation. That is the first huge flaw in your theory.

It's like me saying 100% of kites are known to fly in the wind. That doesn't mean 100% of kites will fly in the wind. They may suffer from symmetrical defects, tears and many other factors. Additionally, there may not be any wind for them to fly in.

The second failure in your citations lies in the fact that the studies assert this:
A definite correlation has been noted between induced homosexuality and sexual abuse.
Whereas you use them to say this:
He was molested, so that's why he's gay.

It's like me saying "everytime i burn myself, it hurts". That doesn't mean everytime i feel pain, it's stemming from a burn.

I really hope you don't emotionally torment your patients this way. Not only are you misreading theory, you're bastardising the field of science by using it in a manner that severely lacks consistency, objectivity and correlation.

 

I am so glad that you have found kindness and compassion here. That is as it should be. It is inescapable that the attitudes evident in this community reflect those where you and I live (England in my case). All too often, the negative and hateful voices can have a disproportionate affect on our wellbeing. So, I implore you to focus your attention on those that are supportive, not those who are destructive. I came across a maxim some years ago which holds true: Those who care, matter and those who matter, care. So, the vast majority of us want you and your "very gay boyfriend" lol, to prosper. Have you thought about extending your reboot after 90 days, but only focus on becoming un-addicted to pornography? I know that it's often said that 90 days does the trick, but I'd rather continue on a path to recovery, with some modifications, than to just make it to a certain milestone and stop.
