One Fapstronaut on this forum asked me kindly to create another thread that discusses some productive and stimulating actions and hobbies you can pursue in order to fight urges and fill in the emerging gap/void that will appear after leaving PMO behind.

It is of course hard to come up with activities that will suit all Fapstronauts as we all do have different interests, physique, gifts, ethnicities and religious/spiritual beliefs but a few ones that would probably suit most of us and make us overcome the urges and redistribute our sexual energies into productive and meaningful pastimes (regardless of the differences mentioned above) are following:

    1. Ice cold showers - Because these make you feel overwhelmed with physical pain, contracts your sexual energy, boosts your testosterone, and gives you a boost of physical energy (especially if feeling sleepy).

    2. Physical exercise - Because it redirects your sexual energy into a physical one which is great if you feel the urges and withdrawal symptoms coming up. Pick one or more physical activities that you feel (at least somewhat) comfortable with and start doing them whenever you are struck by lustful thinking. The more exhausting and demanding the exercise-routine, the more focused and less aroused will you feel. Most weight-lifting and body-strength exercises do also boost your T-levels after some time.

    3. Mental exercise - As important as it is to train your body, it is equivalently important to train and strengthen your brain and intellectual capacity as the reboot starts to kick in. Reading and learning new things on a daily basis are not only great pastimes to replace PMO and lustful urges but will also strengthen your concentration, long-term memory, widen your perspectives, vocabulary and make you appear as a quite interesting, educated, and multi-faceted person overall. One that many people are drawn to like a magnet and one that people want to be around.
One common denominator that (almost) all successful people have in common is: They read a lot and don't waste their precious time watching TV.

    4. Meditation and spiritual activities (Tai-chi, Xi-gong, Yoga, etc) - Is a great way of overcoming urges as it redistributes your sexual energy effectively (into masculine one) and makes you focus on your simplest body movements one at a time (such as your briefing or raising your arms slowly). It will not only fight your most urgent urges but also fill your body and mind with focus, relaxation, calmness and contentment after some time. It makes you feel present in the moment and really appreciate it at the same time. You will also never feel bored or under-stimulated when you start to master these practices a bit more.

    5. Abstinence from popular culture - Although, I don't want to make this sound like a political statement, I think we all can agree on the fact that today's modern and global popular culture (i.e. Hollywood culture) with its messages have had a catastrophic and destructive effect on not only individuals but entire societies, nations, and civilizations as well.
The messages they broadcast do always shun values such as tradition, real beauty, intimacy, honor, glory, self-control, nuclear-family, gender-roles (real masculinity and femininity), faithfulness, trustworthiness, liability, a healthy sexuality and much more.
If you want to feel more alive, vibrant and in touch with yourself, nature, and reality, I suggest you don't consume any more of today's popular culture as it will do you nothing good but only lead to your personal downfall.

If you follow these advices/actions, you will most likely be set for a long and successful streak in the future. If you have any good advices you want to share, feel free to do so below.

    Great post, thank you!
I was wondering about this. I know many people here look to cold showers in order to help with the reboot, but I never really bothered looking into it. Do you know how cold showers boost testosterone?

Cold showers actually helped me for sure. Tip, keep some water in mouth before taking shower.

I was in a sauna in Norway many years ago The Norwegians would leave the sauna take a cold shower and get back in the sauna . I tried it as soon as the cold water hit me I had a real pain in my chest thought I was having a heart attack. Never had a cold shower since . But as the Thai lady boy said to the priest " never try never know"
