    Hey guys,

So i'm an average 20 yr old dude except the fact that I am having some major hair loss. I've gone to the docs and had blood tests done and im perfect normal, nothing is out of wack. EXCEPT maybe my hormones. Now I've done a lot of research on the topic of excessive masturbation and hair loss and found a lot of info leaning towards a correlation and a lot that said its bs. For me personally I believe there is a correlation because ive only started experiencing major hair loss when i started to masturbate way more frequently then i used to(this has happened over the span of a year of so and would be about 2-3 times a day).

A little bit on the science side of things. It's kind of common sense that this will aggravate and speed up the MPB process because PMO increases testosterone by a bunch, thus creating more DHT(which is one of the culprits of hair loss)and then experiencing hair loss IF you are predisposed to the gene. People that have the MPB gene are born with an excess amount of the enzyme 5 alpha reductase. This is what is responsible for the conversion of testosterone to DHT, which is a by product of testosterone that is 10x more potent. I know that I am destined to go bald eventually, but I think I am way too young for this to be happening THIS DRASTICALLY, RIGHT NOW. I'm confident it has to be tied to my excessive masturbation and hormonal imbalance. This is the main reason why I joined NoFap, and I have abstained for coming up to 3 days now and am going to continue to do so.

I'm writing this thread b/c i'm wondering if any of you has any experience and/or success with this subject and would love for you to share! Cheers! :)

Ahhh, doesn't it f*cking suck!! Yeah i thinking fapping definitely does affect the hair if you're born with the gene. I guess well be experiments of our own.. lets see how it goes! Good luck brother!

Hey guys, 22 years old male here.
Where to start ? I'm on Day 66 without Nofap and you're probably right when you say that PMO affects hair. For the last year my hair was getting more and more thin, I've took a picture of myself on Day 7, so I still have a proof.
59 Days after this picture my hair is way more strong, but please note that I'm not loosing hair at the moment.

But you're definitely wrong when you say that :

Being 22, most of my friends are 23-20years old. I have a good friend of mine that is already completely bald (completely, Fabien Barthez style, and he has been bald since he was 20) and a few other friends going slowly but surely bald in a few years. All of them had full hair when they were 19.
I'm sorry but this is something that comes from genes most of the time. One of my best friends is starting to loose his hair too. He's been very afraid about it, did a lot of research and medical exams. Everything is right, he's in top form... And going bald, that's how it is. Every men loose their hair, some at 20, some at 35, some at 75.

I'm sure you're right when you say that masturbating a lot attacks hair, and if you're naturally going bald, it probably goes faster, but as I say a lot, don't blame porn and masturbation habits for everything that goes wrong in your life. Because you'll eventually notice that stopping PMO helps a lot but it's not magical, and you may relapse if you find about it and get discouraged.
(Also I'd add that loosing hair is not "something going wrong in your life" since it's something you can't control)

    Thanks for your post!
Yeah i don't expect miracles here and i know that people just naturally go bald at 20 and that's the way it is. But my dad and grandfather didn't start until there thirty's, why the switch up? I think that anything extreme will trigger your genes to rebel prematurely. They didn't smoke, drink, wack off as much as I do/did. They had a totally different lifestyle. So I feel if I make a change for the better, i will see results slowly see results. NOT miracles but benefited results and hopefully that can prolong it for a bit longer cause I aint ready yet lol!

Yeah, I have the same problem. Not really sure about the connection between PMO and hairloss. Hope I can say anything about it when I have a decent streak going on.

A Toshiro Mifune fan I see!

The biggest correlation I would say is the amount of cortisol that is released upon ejaculation. Granted there has to be more going on than just that, for instance loss of jing. He Shou Wu (there are many scientific studies to back this up) is superb for restoring thickness to thinning hair and can prevent and even stop hair loss dead in its' tracks, so long as one maintains healthy ways of living and doesn't waste their jing through excess orgasm. I could really delve into this and give a discourse right now but I don't have the time so just google He Shou Wu (Dragon Herbs is one of the best sources, so is Mountain Rose Herbs which has Fo-ti but it's just another name for the same herb which is Polygonum Multiflorum).

If you stop masturbating chances are your hair will not fall out or turn grey until much later in your life, if it will at all. Most people's hair turns grey eventually, but it sure doesn't have to fall out! Genetics also play a factor fo sho. But with the powers of NoFap and various herbs/supplements why not take a chance and save your hair! What do you have to lose, besides your hair! ;) Food for thought.

The hormone logic sounds reasonable, but I think most males are destined to go bald at some point (my hairline is receding in the corners pretty drastically, which is sad haha).

But, just a theory here, with me I think masturbation in the past has potentially contributed to anxiety or self-consciousness, meaning I touch/put my fingers through/tug at my hair quite a lot, and that could potentially lead to hair loss.

    Meh may be rubbish

I still have my hair, but definitely want to keep following this to see how the experiment turns out. A reason to get clean is still a reason to get clean, whatever motivates you to change go for it!

I think it's rubbish. Have you asked your father (or another family member) about their hair loss? That could be an indicator as to what you should expect. My father started to go bald in his late teens, and was almost completely bald up top by the time he reached his thirties. I myself started to go bald around 17. I attributed it to my many bleaching and dye jobs, but it became more noticable after I stopped dying my hair and experimenting with various styles. My hair really started to thin out over the last two years or so. I hate it, but I know that it's something that I have to deal with, and I don't have the funds for a hair transplant procedure. Once it gets to a certain point I'm just going to invest in an electric razor (Steve Harvey uses one to shave his head, as common razors tend to do a number on your scalp.) and work on becoming the best looking bald man I could be.

Realistically speaking, I don't know if my many years of PMO had anything to do with my hair loss. I could look through a bunch of studies and get the confirmation bias effect that most studies on health want to elicit from the reader, but I know that it's genetic, and you can't dispute that.

I don't believe a single word you're saying, so I'll pass. DHT is a hormone that cannot be deactivated by simply giving up masturbation. Even the people who have hair loss surgery still continue to lose hair. Why? Because the hormone is still present. Instead of fussing about losing hair and taking advice from a glorified snake oil peddler, just work on becoming a better looking bald man. Besides, chicks don't care. Confidence and a sense of humor goes a long way with the opposite sex. Having hair, or not having hair, is just an afterthought when it comes to down to it.
