60 days porn free today! I feel great!! I can't remember the last time I have felt so free and empowered! My mind is clear and able to critically think with acuity and sharpness. I feel physically stronger, more energy, better rested, and better sleep at night. I have more confidence, and have more emotional stability.
My girlfriend constantly talks about the improvements she sees in me, which includes how I treat her.

I'm living a notably different life, and it's exactly what I have been wanting to pursue. And my next goal is 90 days porn free.

How did I do it? I developed an 8 step recovery plan, and I follow it daily. Period. If you do not have a strong recovery plan, don't waste your time trying to go porn free, because it probably won't happen.

Yes, this is a rough copy, as it is my personal notes on each of the 8 steps. I hope it is helpful to you:

8 Essentials of a Recovery Plan

    1.) Start Date

2.) Why Statement- A statement that is boiled down from the brainstorming process involved with scrutinized a pros and cons list. It is the main reason, or a couple of reasons “why” I am choosing to abstain from porn. Internal motivation helps me center and own the recovery process. It does not make me porn free, but it instills ownership and motivates abstinence. “Winners anticipate, losers react.” –Tony Robbins A winner anticipates, by creating a structured recovery plan. It’s difficult to sustain a goal in life without a plan, or a clear commitment. This applies to everything in life: Diet, exercise, work goals, relationships, finances, etc. The why statement anchors my plan. The statement cannot exist without the plan or vice versa, as they cohabitate.

3.) Awareness- Anticipating weaknesses by clearly defining them. Weaknesses are vulnerabilities that are specific to my personality, and situations. Identify feelings, mistaken beliefs, and vulnerabilities. Environments: *at home *bedroom *upstairs and downstairs bathrooms *shower *at work bathroom Mediums: *internet *personal phone *laptop Emotions: *sadness or lasting melancholy *anger as it pertains to creating stress *feelings of stress *lack of control *turbulence with finances, relationships, being late, my schedule. *feeling vulnerable and introspective. Situations: *Being home alone while experiencing difficult emotions. *Home alone and feeling tempted to edge on the internet. *Surfing the web and coming across an arousing picture. *Watching a movie or video and coming a cross an arousing scene. *Being at work with my phone in the bathroom and being tempted to look at porn. Mistaken Beliefs: • LIE- Porn will alleviate or take away the stress of a situation. Or that it will resolve or make the situation go away. • TRUTH- Porn will simply mask the symptoms, and distort my view of the situation. The problem is not going to go away, and will probably be more difficult to deal with and more stressful when I return to it. • LIE- The women I look at in porn are going to edify, affirm, or validate who I am. That they are going to add love and value to my life. • TRUTH- Porn is a counterfeit to any real love, intimacy, and validity that can only come from a REAL woman that I am in a REAL and COMMITED relationship with. • LIE- Porn will fulfill the deep need I have for companionship, acceptance, and sexual intimacy. • Truth- Only a real woman can fulfill the deep needs I have for feminine companionship, acceptance, and sexual intimacy.

4.) Consequences- “The cost” These are the self-ascribed punishments that I apply when I relapse. They need to have some teeth, but be achievable. There needs to be some pain when engaging relapse behaviors. This is an important measure of accountability. Penance.

5.) Milestones- 30 day plans are practical and habit encouraging. Make my commitment times achievable. Create an award for each milestone! Such as a nice cigar, bottle of scotch, new record, take a trip, etc.

6.) Active Commitments- “Goals” Acct. partner, check in, NoFap blogs, P.F. literature. Make my free time acct. and intentional. “Miracle Morning”. Focus commitments on productive/intentional activities I will be doing, not on what I should not be doing.

7.) Self-Care- Health, fitness, reading, affirmation, meditation, writing. Make sure my self-care activities are motivating for me, and if not then dump them! Do something else!

8.) Community- My plan is activated by others. Witnesses, support, acct., like-minded and like-goals community members. I cannot do this on my own. Connection during recovery makes all of my commitments more real and powerful. More meaningful. It’s what activates, signs off, and acknowledges what I am doing. -It helps keep me accountable. - My plan is more fully activated by others.
