(25-26ish days?) I feel like when you don't count the days, it's easier.

Im now about 25-26 dayish? into NO PMO.

This is the longest streak i've ever been on since being addicted for 8 years (started at 13 years, now 21).

And I think the reason i've succeeded this far was just simply not thinking about the days.

I only have a mere memory of what exact day I started (somewhere around end of June) - so in a sense I only know a "rough estimate" of my streak.

But what I am really referring to in terms of "not counting the days" is to, for instance, not wake up in the morning and think "oh, it's now day number 8!".

All this would do is remind me that i'm on a process to recovery from addiction, which would in turn make me THINK about the addiction itself (masturbating to porn), visualize all the porn scenes I used to get off to, and let these images in mind create an urge to view it on the internet.

It's hard to don't think about it, especially if you remember the exact day that you started. But I get what you're saying.

What I recommend is changing your thoughts at the very time you think about NF.

Focus on the present moment and don't look back. All we really have is today. It's where we are that counts not where we've come from, though it helps to remind oneself of where we don't want to be.

Exactly, i’ve just been focusing on living in the present and living as a normal human-being as they should.

We shouldn’t have to be paying attention to how many days we haven’t busted a nut.

I agree with you but in reverse. Once it becomes easier then you stop counting the days. Depending on the level of addiction at least for me once i got past the 7 day mark it started to become easier. I personally use milestones to reward myself and increase confidence to push further

.. but you see plenty of counters if you log on this site, and just by virtue of being here you're aware you're dealing with this issue.

I don't think you should DEPEND on counters, but that doesn't mean not using it is a cause for success - I think that's just stretching it. For lots of people the counter is just there, an automated thing, they are not thinking about porn or fapping just because it's implied that they are trying to recover.

I don't think you should ignore time, I just think most peoples idea of time is largely ignorant. It's not calendar time, there are a lot of things that if you do them at the right time, you'll have a much easier time in the recovery process - but it seems most people aren't willing to spend the time to learn about those basics or try them consistently for a while.

One thing that i did that worked better for me is simoly writing the date and time i last used PMO. I feel like with counters if you relapse you get severly unmotivated/disappointed at the thought of starting again
By using a relative date and time you can look if you want and count them otherwise it seems less like a badge of honor and more like a form of accountability
