True. It's a filthy industry that exploits others and makes tons of profits on them.

 

Porn is one of those weird things in society in that it is encouraged despite it being obviously bad for you, much like gambling or drinking. I truly believe that without porn, NoFap would have much less of a reason to even exist as for me at least, masturbation without porn isnt anywhere near as damaging. At the same time I dont want to go full authoritarian and say it should be banned or anything like that, so its up to the individual to recognise the harm it does and make the change themselves.

 

That's one of the many reasons I stay well clear from it, after reading about the industry, other addicts, victims of sexual violence and porn performers horror stories during my recovery, I realised that there is a human being in me somewhere and I found this thing called 'empathy' and 'compassion' mixed with a healthy dose of hate directed in the right way. When I was active in my addiction I never once came accross any articles about how porn is harmful, neither did I search for anything academicaly focused on the problems with porn. Even when I made my first attempts at giving up when I sought out private counselling back in 2012 I was never directed towards any helpful resources.

 

Porn stars choose to have it as a job. They have plenty of choices for jobs but they stick with it for the money.

 

Sorry but I don't agree. I've been watching porn for 17 years now and there are alot woman who really enjoy having unprotected sex with a man they find handsome, despite knowing little about him. Not all women are like this of course but judging by the amount I would say it aint hard to find such women, just need to gain there trust at first and they need to find you attractive.
I'm a ugly as the night. Not that I would do this this anyway!

 

There is a porn... business or something that I forgot the name of. There was a documentary on it. It's a few guys who basically just go around the country and find random girls who will do it for money, usually just one time.

 

Very few people in life are happy with their careers. the salesman who goes door to door selling insurance policies, the woman behind grocery store. many, many, many people are unhappy with their lives.
but there are reason why they do that job.
porn stars may be unhappy with their lives but they cannot say it. it will jeopardize their careers. they may not get work after that.

it's like a doctor cannot say to his patients 'i hate my job.'
then the patients would go away from him as he's not interested in his job. even if the doctor hates his job, he cannot say the truth.
