  1. I'm too uncomfortable for having kids. These human kids are annoying because they cried too much, they are spoiled, etc. I would rather have a dog and/or a cat as my kid with a beautiful wife.

I don't know if I'll ever have kids personally (because of psychological problems), but this anti-natalism trend is worrysome.

Birth rates are declining all over the world, mostly in the developed countries. And in the developing countries as well, the population is increasing in those countries because of increased longevity and reduced child mortality. The world's population will probably plateau at some point and then gradually decline.

This causes economic problems. Because more elderly, retired people have to be supported by fewer young people in the workforce. It will be a struggle to manage taking care of all elderly.

If we increased recycling, green electricity, electric cars and especially if we switched to lab grown meat (potentially cost-effective in the 2020's), "overpopulation" wouldn't be much of an environmental problem.

Anti-natalism is misanthropic and bitter state of mind to be in. It leads nowhere good.

The anti-natalism trend is one of the few trends which is not worrying.

Depends on what you count as "overpopulated".

But 45% of the land surface consists of monocultures and pastures for Big Meat, and over 25% of the world's soils and freshwater reserves are very damaged. 90% of the land animal biomass on Earth consists of humans and domesticated animals. You might see that as a positive thing.

I firmly believe that governments should put every eager person to test for parental license like they do for driving license. That wouldn't change the fact that most kids are annoying but it'd be assuring to know persons behind the said kid know what they're doing so it'd be easier to tolerate. Some people look at a child and see innocence and potential. I see a disrespectful, loud, obnoxious, selfish, unreasonable hazard. You know what? Most stay just the same, so no points on the potential department either. Whenever I think about the subject I always remember Bill Burr's take on it.

    YES, they ARE annoying.
However I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have a child, say, not before 30.

I'd rather adopt one than have one, mostly because I feel there is so much pain in this world that we ought to think about who's already here and suffering and THEN create a new life. We're already far too many humans on this planet, other than that.
Oh, and you also skip all the draining, boring parts like pregnancy and the first years of life, which are a fucking pain in the ass.

Make babies Goddammit! I really don't think it's for me though, but having children should be encouraged.

To prefer animals to children is another result of PMO degradation into selfishness. You wouldn't exist if your parents had thought so or maybe you hate your life and wanted to express that it would be better if you weren't born.

People used to take care of their parents when they got old. It's probably still like that in countries where they haven't abandoned their traditions for modernity.

Well, I have seen opposite examples of both. I know of a person that rather have a pet than a child who is clean of porn and masturbation for over 5 years. I've known of another person that loves children even though she hates herself. And I know of another person that loves himself but doesn't like kids. These people I know very closely with certainty. It definitely, as a theory, can't explain what is.

I asked if it was a self observation because when I search my mind about it, I see that in the past I had self-loathing issues and parallelly, I did hate children compared to how I feel about them right now which is more like entities that must be tolerated. But that is a self observation and I would be wrong about it too. That's why I asked if yours was a self observation or a guess.

    A self observation to me.

Your 3 cases only apparently disagree with my view.
The man who has been free from PMO for 5 years. How do you know if he isn't selfish or if his mental condition is completely sound. Not to do PMO and not to be selfish don't have to exist simultaneously.
The woman who hates herself - ask her if she wished not to be born. Beside of this - to hate oneself is to focus on oneself , on one's own feelings experiences and thoughts - so it's selfishness. You write that she loves children but ask her if she wished to have some more ? or maybe rather an animal. Her answer could surprise you.
I love watching documentaries about prisons and people there which doesn't mean that I want to be imprisoned.
The thirth person who loves himself can be from definition selfish because to be selfish is to prefere oneself ( one's own wellbeing) to others...

Again my thesis is - not wanting children is always selfish and it shows that something is damaged within this person. PMO helps damage our minds and souls effectively....

I see how you correlated everything, it's good reasoning for sure. There are couple things I want to tackle.

I don't subscribe to that idea because while being self-centered and being selfish synonyms on paper, they're not the same. Self-hate is based on self-centered thoughts, I think everyone would agree on that but selfishness is looking after your interest at the expense of others, even when you're morally obliged to. By nature, their connotations are contradictory.

One can argue that wanting children is as selfish as not wanting them. It's no secret that there's a lot of self gratification is involved in making a "mini me". Wishing to have someone dependent for years, guaranteed to be loved and idealized, easy to be molded into even the most unreasonable world view, an avatar to carry out the genes, almost always another burden to Earth itself.

Do you think ones eagerness to procreate is a measure of psychological health?

Eagerness to procreate can be understood In many ways. Even PMO addiction is based on it ( the base of procreation is sex drive too)
So to me It's logical - the sex drive can be used either In a healthy way ( marriage and children) or in an unhealthy way ( PMO, sex workers, sex abuse, rape, sex deviations...)
To be brief - eagerness to procreate ( In a healthy way - marriage and children) is to me one of major signs of psychological health.
