    Man, this is really awful.

When I was a kid, deciding whether to be wild or not, we had parties.
Young people had these in-person get-togethers called parties, and sometimes there was making out and craziness, but usually not, but whatever happened, NOBODY was taking pictures of others without their permission and posting them to Facebook!

We had gossip, sure. But enough of it was false, and in any case you had no proof. Could a bad reputation follow you forever? Of course not!

Back then, the internet had no pictures. Well, maybe if you were willing to wait an hour for one to download.
If you wanted to look at nude people, you had to put some effort into it. Find some contraband, go to the beach, convince other people to show you theirs, use your imagination.

Now you have free unlimited access 24/7 to other people's nakedness and folly. Maybe there's not anyone you know online, but there is always something to see. And whole youtube channels are devoted to watching other people fall down and get hurt.

So you have the easiest time in the world finding smut, and everyone socializing through their phones if ever, and you have every reason in the world to shut yourself away and never venture out in person among the crowds of cameras. You've got 1000X the vulnerability of kids 20 years ago.

How does anyone find and start a real relationship in such a world?

Its actually difficult to answer this, because it seems to be poetry about the decay of the world rather than an actual question to which a corresponding answer would come to mind.

But let me answer poem with poem.

Where are the old days, the days of wonder, of summer nights?
Where are the days of carelessness, full of innocent joy?
Where has all the good been left? Destroyed by thiefs in the night?

Technology accelerates the life more and more,
    drives us apart,
    apart from our humanity,
    apart from love and joy,
oh Facebook, what more do you want to destroy?

I am hurrying to find my sense in life, a love,
and technology helps me with it,
    or does it?
    everything just seems so rough

True connection to other people is what I desire,
not the thousand connections on the wire,
Oh internet what have you done,
the people go down to the sound of the drum.

Oh my god am I a bad poet.

But I really didn't feel that you wanted a pages full of explainations of how and why the world is so bad and how I intend to change it, so I wrote you some shitty poetry instead.

I'm not under 25, I am 25, but certainly impacted by everything you're talking about. The answer is I'm a very lonely person, even though I go out quite often, people for the most part don't want to do much, and when people are out they're on their phones anyway. They'll go on their phones when you're talking to them and after a few seconds lift their heads and say, "what?" I hate the world and just want to build an earthship in a remote area and isolate myself completely, no internet or anything.

I'm 17. I know what you're saying. Temptations exist in far greater quantity now, with much more intensity, as far as I can tell. Surviving is not an easy job.

Now, I've had a girlfriend for... Well, almost the past year and a half. I consider myself lucky. I got into M about 4 months into our relationship, making my struggle with it about a year long at this point. Again, I consider myself lucky. I have a girlfriend who actually understands. I am not one of those poor guys who started with PMO at age 11. I feel like I have a real chance, but then again, everybody does.

I guess what I'm saying is... It's possible to find a real relationship. I'm only 17 and I am incredibly grateful for the relationship I have. Now all I have to do is make it right by stopping PMO.

Good man! I am 24, done PMO some ten years now, never had a GF (not even close) and already feeling old when shuffling through NoFap where men in their teens (with all the hormon rush) are attending this shared quest for better self. It brings hope to know that there are so many young valorous guys with resolution to stand fast before the infinite abyss of carnal pleasure and society's insistence to encourage it in the name of "sexual liberation"

Oh! How typical it is for the modern man to find the chains he thought he shattered to actually be the only way to prevent being cast into horribly greater a slavery! The chances this civilization chose to throw away saddens me.

But anyway, keep up your noble stance! I'll acquiesce to saving what's left of myself - I guess that's something, too.

NoFap for me is a very valuable place, and very paradoxical too. It is a home for many wonderful, sensitive and aware people with a strong drive for self-improvement, who found the place often in secrecy, under guilt, feeling isolated among their peers with which they would be ashamed to even raise topics of abstinence, or - at best - would feel like idiots or suckers.

In the old days (and I don't mean 20 years ago, I mean 200 years ago) sexual restraint was MAINSTREAM - at least in the higher classes which set examples as well as standards for the whole of society. Now the mainstream is something quite opposite, and it is us - those who value devotion to individuals rather than sex-ialization with everyone (my paraphrase of "socialization") are moving underground with their convictions. 200 years ago, a woman giving ass to anyone was considered a whore. Today, a chick giving ass to anyone at a party is said to be just enjoying her youth. There is no common sense among youth anymore which in the old days would lead to condemnation of such conduct. There certainly are individuals who still think it wrong, but they are being silenced by the general spirit of the times that we live in, they are being reduced down to bigots who no one listens or maybe just to old-fashioned ranting catholics who try to impose their views on others.

I don't really know the sociological, historical, psychological, political or perhaps biological reasons for such change in the general perceptions of what human relations should look like. But I know one thing - as well as you, I hate the current state of being, am devoted to changing it and therefore am very much happy for seeing that the Internet, which so often proves to be the curse, sometimes happens to be a cure, like in case of NoFap. And that's why I said NoFap was paradoxical - because porn as well as all those dumb social media bound us to our PCs' or smartphones' screens. Now, in seeking help, we again turn eyes to our screens... But this time we see hope for liberation.

I... don't think I want to visit Poland now?
No offense... I just... oh my...

Yeeee, but also... they would probably have stoned that woman.
I'm quite happy to live in a liberal society where nobody has to fear the wrath of overly conservative people, who abuse the authority of god to justify their crimes.
"The decay of values" has to be tackled by individuals and not by a group of people shaming an action, because every society that restricts freedoms on the basis of an perceived "opinion of the mass" will automatically restrict the rights of minorities.

By that I mean the freedom that everyone holds and can use, to the extent that they don't hurt the freedom of other people, should be used as they please, never legislated. That some people will fall into an exagerated hedonism is sad, because common sense tells us that it will probably be bad for them, but it's none of our business as a society as a whole, aka with law. If you want to help such a person, then go help him personally or build up a private organisation or whatever.

Well, it's not like everyone thinks that way around here, but if you went to the lower class public university environments (being in the numerical majority), then you would hardly find any voices of condemnation for such conduct - rather approval for having great tits and ass.

    Tschoo,

You're right (maybe except that they would stone them - there were prostitutes 200 years ago, and nobody was stoning anyone). What we as humanity need is a change of mindset. 200 years ago it was moral absolutism under the yoke of the Catholic Church fighting for "God's will"; now it's materialist conformism under the yoke of more and more totalitarian democratic regimes fighting for "freedom and justice" to the extent of enslaving everyone for that very purpose. What I wish to see in the years to come is libertarian individualism with people minding their own business, but not being indifferent towards their families and their foreseeable future. Or at least certainly not counting on the "government" to do anything about it.

Well, what do you mean by "totalitarian democratic regimes"? What is it exactly that annoys you?

Long story short? Pretty much what annoyed people back in the USSR - enforced collectivism, also cultural (public, compulsory and indoctrinative education; state funded cultural institutions, for example). I don't think it's the right place for a political debate...

tschoo that second post in this thread is a fucking amazing piece of poetry, sums it up perfectly,

being 15 i guess i cope by not partying and not posting anything to Facebook and having most of my friends being adults. it might seem weird but i find adults more interesting, the kids my age in my small town can't talk about anything more than tits, drugs and video games, and those of us who can become wall flowers in social settings so we never connect or find out who each other are. I havnt had any gfs or relationships because at my tender young age such a thing would be short lived and would suck up valuable time and energy into something hat would inevitably end in heart break.

Now that I'm in the right frame of mind for it, I have to admit, your poetry is pretty f-ing brilliant.
