Starting with pushups.

    Anyone here have advice on this? I'm starting with pushups. I get to 8, but at 10 I want to quit. They felt so good afterwards! Anyone here have advice on how to do push-ups safely in an appropriate manner? How many should I do each day and then build up on them? Thanks.

    Shoulder muscles hurt today. Should I wait until they don't hurt to do more pushups or should I continue? God damn, they hurt. It's almost like having weights in my pectorals. They feel so good though!

    As you use many muscles making push ups - don't do them everyday. Your shoulders, chest and triceps need at least 1 or 2 days to regenerate.
    8-10 is a great start. I remember when i started working out, i could do like 3 or 4 haha

    My shoulder muscles hurt right now, holy crap. I need more time to heal possibly (or possibly not).

    Download an app for push ups on your smartphone. I find them very useful. And the best advice I can give you: when you think of stopping, don't think and just do as many as you have to. If you feel it hurts you physically, that is totally different, but they shouldn't if you do them correctly

    To get the best result out of push ups do them every other day. I recommend for you a book called you're your own gym by Mark Lauren, you will find all the information related to bodyweight fitness and a 10 week program.

    Just write "push ups" in Google Play or your app store and you'll find many of them

    I can do 20 military style and about 40 if half-assed.

    Don't take it too fast, build up the muscles first. ;)

    Muscles still hurt today. Argh. I want to do more, I just don't want to hurt myself too bad.

    Don't confuse pain with muscle fever. The muscle fever passes faster if you use the muscles.

    I'm 29 years old. Somewhat thin. I don't work out much.

    That's not an excuse. I bet you could do 6 series of 10 with 1 minute breaks between them, if you want to.

    Well muscle fever invloves pain, but in that case it's something normal, if you are not used to doing exercises. This kind of pain is not doing any damage like the pains from doing exercises in a wrong way.

    The website will be amazing for you mate. They break it down really well and its has proven successful for a lot of people. I am personally starting this today.
