Hi, my name is Tom. I am in my 50's and I've been struggling with masturbation/porn etc since my late teens. I'm highly educated and have a good life but it has been a struggle to keep away from it. Recently I have even thought of getting rid of my laptop and phone just to try and make a break. Not that I am constantly looking at it but the thought is never very far away and I've noticed that even TV shows are getting more explicit (e.g. Game of Thrones, Marco Polo). The past summer has been a low period and when the BBC had a clip of a lady talking about her struggle with porn an internet search led to nofap and so I've decided to give it a go. My one insight is that the real problem is in my head not in pictures, video or the media that convey them. I have found that over time this stuff dulls my emotions, makes me think less of women and less of myself. Unwanted images pop into my head when I least want or need them there. I find that I spend longer and longer searching for and watching clips and usually feeling bored until I masturbage as much to get it over with as to pleasure myself. This is not a healthy way to live and I think it's about time I grew up, put away my toys and got myself a real life.

    Welcome, Tom -- I'm 54, myself.

I hope you keep coming back. There's a lot of help here. Let me know what I can do.
